New knife purchases this year

I was kind of going into withdrawals recently because I've not acquired a new knife for a while now. I decided and ultimately purchased a couple knives I've been eyeing for a while now. The first one I purchased a day ago was a Kershaw Leek with the G-10 handle and the other knife I just purchased tonight is the Extrema Ratio Shrapnel. Hopefully those two knives will hold me over for a while...

I know exactly what you mean. Last year I was collecting ( or accumulating) tactical style knives from Benchmade,Emerson and Kershaw.

But this year my budget is a little tighter so I found myself drawn to traditional knives. To me they seem to be a little more aesthetically pleasing to collect and they usually don't cost as much.

I've been buying mostly Bulldog and Hen & Rooster Stockmen patterns. Also a few Case and Queen knives thrown in too.

This year, for me, has been more wide open for acquiring knives. I went through a divorce back in November that really didn't hammer my finances as hard as I thought it would. As a result I've got more disposable income than this time last year and I'm disposing of it on knives!

Since 1/1/2007 I've been able to purchase 5 custom folders and a few production knives. I have a Crawford Raider on order and have put a Larry Harley Battle Bowie on layaway till the end of this month. I see no reason to slow down!

This year I've picked up a Benchmade auto 5000 --a D2 Griptilian---2 Buck custom 110's---a limited edition 112---2 Mini Alpha Hunters--and a Walmart Native.

I've gotten an AKC italian stiletto, MOD CQD Mark II, Benchmade 43, Benchmade 46, and I've got a Derespina Custom Model 10 coming soon.

I should have a delivery today of my new Bark River Aurora with stag handles, and a Microtech Currahee.

My E.R. Schrapnel is riding of my right hip at this time. This is a whicked little knive with a very sharp point and blade. Feels great in the hand also.
You made a good pick on that one. I am betting that it will become one of your favorites.

I don't think I want to come to terms with how many knives I have/will purchase this year! :D

A few weeks ago I did a little show and tell with a buddy of mine with my small knife collection. I then was thinking that I didn't buy a new knife since last winter. I did a bit of searching on this website on anything that was new or cool. I like G-10 scales and the Leek with those scales looked good so that was the first to be charged on my debit card. Next, I remember I was looking at a fixed bladed and I liked the CRK Shadow III and the ER Shrapnel. I ended up buying the Shadow III last year. So last night I did some Google searches and found a ER Shrapnel at a good price with an instant rebate. So that is coming next week with the Leek.

I'm feeling much better now...hehehe! Next in line is maybe a Bud Nealy necker (Cave Bear model is looking real good).

I have been trading for Mike Obenauf knives this year!! I sold off a knife to get another Obie.

this year my knives scheduled are:

  • Carsom small model 4 ( and a CRKT model 4 )
  • Erickson Slipjoint
  • Strider Concealed Carry SnG
  • Buck/Mayo fixed blade

I've been getting quite a kick out of stag lately for user blades. So I picked up a Randal model 6" #25; and a Hen and Rooster Trapper this year.

Oh, and oh yea, the other purchase this year (that's shocked me a bit) is the Buck Hartsook. What a "little" gem (very high performance knife)!

I just ordered my first bali, BM 42. Last year was mostly Benchmades and Kershaws. I'm really drawn to T.A Davisons slippies now. I will probably buy one of those this year.

I too am VERY drawn to Todd's slippies as well. I am hoping that '07 is the year that I get to get one!!

Oh, boy. What have I started. I am really itching to get that Bud Nealy Cave Bear necker now! Looks like I'll be giving them a call on Monday to see availability

I got the Shrapnel today from Xtremeknives.com. Wow, what a knife! I am very impressed by the wide blade and the hard composite sheath. It will be easy to configure the sheath from vertical to horizontal carry. It would definitely scare the sheeple away with its tactical looks so this will be worn during weekends and offtime from work. Nice first score for 2007.
