New Knife Sunday

I found this at the local PX today, and declared today new knife Sunday. There are some rough edges, but there is a rugged quality about the knife that appeals to me. I especially like the swedge on the main blade. The Case Peanut below is not new, but I have not posted pics before, so it's well overdue. The Peanut's patina is due to about six months of work. I've cut strawberries, a lot of rhubarb, and a few potatoes. Enjoy.

That's a great combination.

I can't quite tell if that is a Buck 301 or 303. Either way, it's one of my favorite working knives.

I agree that the finish is a bit rougher than that of a Case, but the fit is pretty darn good. When the blades on my 301 are opened, the backs of the blades are exactly on a plane with the back-springs. I have a number of other knives of which I cannot say the same.

I really like my old 303, there are nicer stuff out there but I really like the way the Buck feels in your hand. And that CV Peanut is a Classic! Great choices. Thanks for sharing.

Well, I only own one Case, you peanut looks better than mine. Mine looks too new.
Yes, the 373 is copy of the 303 but with slightly different steel. Whats going to be funny one day SOON is that all those Imported Buck knives, which fostered mixed emotions and mixed outcrys, are going to be shut off and eventually become collectors items. And I will have to hang my head that I didn't put up any.....300Bucks

Is this in stone? Got a source?

No stone, but when in meetings, I have attended, the Buck family keeps mentioning that the new machines are up and running in Idaho and production is moving homeward......I think it is a moving forward goal. 300Bucks
