New knife with new scratches - Sebenza????

I just got my new BM pinnacle in and what a great knife. I love the blade, very solid.

However, it is scratched all to hell after just three days of carrying it.

I had read about the titanium scratching but I had no idea how bad.

The thing that gets me most, was that it was my keys that did the scratching. The knife looks like crap with these scratches.

Does the Chris Reeves Sebenza have this problem>?????

Yup, but it hurts more when the Sebenza gets scuffed up... But you can have CRK refinish the Sebbie to look like new at a minimal cost. You might try to have your BM rebeadblasted or try using a scotch-brite pad to take the scuff marks off.

...or carry the keys in another pocket. For me, nothing else goes into the pocket with the knife.

....or not worry about it and use the knife as a user--like it was intended to be.

Your honor, I know you feel bad about this but think of the freedom you now have with this knife. You no longer have to ***** foot around with it and look at the knife from every angle wondering when that dreaded first scratch will occur.

The knife gods gave you a gift. You are now free to work this knife with impunity. This happened for a reason and now your knife has a character uniquely your own....or yours and your keys.

You're a lucky man....a man released from the burden of having a NIB knife. It no longer is one. It is a knife that says, "yeah...I look like s**t, so what? At least I'm not some production knife sitting in a drawer somewhere who's owner is soooooo afraid to use me. I will now go out into the world and cut the crap out of it!"

Congrats.

Man, I need to switch to decaf......

Seriously. In a day or two what I said in jest will hopefully make sense and you can enjoy your knife. If it affected its function I would send it back for a facelift. If it didn't I wouldn't worry about it. It's a tool and not a family heirloom.

I loooove using knives!

Use it, beat it, scratch it to hell... After a while, the scratches become a swirl and then a patina. That's character my friend. Like leathered skin and wrinkles on a faithful worker...

You da man, Kodiak! My sentiments exactly. My Sebbie is just like a well worn pair of jeans and I'm pretty comfortable living with both cases. Sometimes I actually look for ways to beat a knife. Fun ain't it

Well Kodiak, I think no truer words have ever been spoken.

It is like a new car, you hate that first scratch but after that, it becomse oh what the hell.

I like the jean analogy.

I carry all my knives. and love each one. I guess I was a little disappointed with the way it scratched so easily. But What the hell...huh...

Thanks for the smiles

God bless

Don't worry about the scratches. I have a custom Ken Onion with Ti scales. Got it at the blade show. Scales have a few light marks from carry. NO BIG DEAL. I got it to use.

Oh, no one has as many pockets as Dexter. He can afford to carry one knife per pocket.

There is a picture around BFC from 1999's Blade show and some from this year's show that will let you know how Dexter can do this.

Oh yeah, same thing about the first scratches with me. I carry it and be careful not to do anything that would scratch it, but the minute I drop it while playing with it, or slip when handling it or something and it gets a little scuff or a mark on it, it instantly becomes a beater. I have no problems with using the knife in potentially scratching ways after it has already been scratched several times.
