New knife woes

Just got a browning small barracuda yesterday, Satisfied with the knife except for one thing. There is no blade stop when it is closed. The tip of the knife rests on the zytel handle. Can anyone suggest a solution for this?

:) I would have already, but it was only $20. I'm certain I can find a good solution for less than $10. (I'd lose 10 for the s&h) It is an excellent knife, aus8 2inch blade, comfortable handle. Just doesnt have a blade stop.

Is there enough knife "heel" and room around the existing pins to drill a hole, and install a stop pin of your own?

A stop pin might just work, though it will have to be very, very thin. Enough to bring the tip of the blade about half a millimeter off the handle. I've tried sticking a piece of rubber in there, it just wears down. And I used the rubber from a shoe sole.

Is it missing any blade stop entirely, or is it just not fitted right? Sometimes just a couple of sharpenings will be enough and the edge will no longer touch.

If it has no blade stop at all -- some knives are designed that way -- the traditional thing is to put in a strip of cork or leather for the edge to rest on. In my experience glue is not necessary; just make it a press fit and it'll stay there even through violent inertial openings.

There is no blade stop at all. It is a small knife with a 2 inch blade. But if a strip of leather for the edge to rest on is suitable, I will try that. Thanks for the advice.
