I wish I had started making knives at your age Young Man. Keep with it and practice.

You've got a good working profile and the handle looks to be very utilitarian. With your filework ; you might try a little trick of taping two files together to get even spacing. You might consider shaping the handle a bit more to where you have a slight palm swell . Taper it a bit behing the ricasso and at the pommel.

Keep it up :)

thanks
good idea with the files
i heard it along time ago in one of your posts
i was trying to make the marks close on the outside and further apart on the outside to give it more of a "curve" look
thanks for the reply!

You go girl! Just kidding Joval. Good job.
MArk - taping 2 trianle files to get spacing the come back with other shaped files?

yeah...that makes more since! I need to get into the shop. Going to try to glue up 2 handles today.....I hope.

As far as file work spacing I use triangle files real small to large for what ever spacing I want. These files are tapered so just use enough of the file to make a mark using the same part of the file each time. I do not measure any thing when doing file work.
Hope this works for you. Gib

Yes I just roll the file to get the spacing and if I want to do alternate sides then get the spacing and tip the file to the other side to mark. If you are off a little you even it up later on as the work proceeds. I have never measured for file work. Gib
