what do you think?

a pardue 721(clip point??)

,a 710,

or a presidio?

This sucks,i had a bunch of spydercos in my sights.
a persian,
yojimbo,
para and some others... but now benchmade have taken over.

i want

an apperition,

mini skirmish,

skirmish,

rukus

and the 3 axis' metioned above.

out of the first 3 i mentioned which do you reckon and why.

oh yeah, i also want a lmt adition mini skirmish in blue. i live in the uk and noone to my knowedge carries them here.

new graham doesnt have 1. do you know of anywhere there are some. i know new g has the full size blue with black handle but i want a mini. if anyone has one they want to sell or knows anywhere i can get one, speak up.but what the dealon those 3 axis lockers.

and...is it true that benchmades knives dont come anywhere near as sharp as spydercos??

The 710 definitely comes sharp from the factory. Maybe not as sharp as Spyderco S30v, but I sliced some newsprint with ease, and it is pretty smooth- know someone who recently got a 710 and he loves it. G10, 4" blade, if you're down w/D2, unless you find a 154cm version. And axis lock.

Probably can't go wrong with any of those on your list. I am eyeing a rukus myself, for no good reason I can think of. Too huge to be practical really, but BTW I am told that 610 was even sharper than the 710, but that might be because s30v, maybe they can put a better edge on it from the factory. Notice those things range forom $150 to near $200 depending on the retailer. If I knew I oculd trust the smaller sites, I would go for it for $150.

EDIT- ok my vote is officially the rukus. So you order it from here first- http://dadsknifeshop.com/pd_benchmade_rukus.cfm tell me if you get it, then I'll order it.

A 710 or a Mini-skirmish would be decent edc's imho.

Wait a minute, i am biased, i EDC a 710 lol.

Still, i'd grab one of them before their gone, then get the Skirmish and then the mini and then the....

Peace

Happy medie multiplying.

I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH EBAY....i keep putting things up for sale on ebay but they dont show up in search and listings. any ideas??

DANTHEMAN123 - how are you entering the data? Use the bay's default settings. Names and models in title and description. Advanced search should show up.

As to the knife, the 710 is a classic design that the only real gripes I've heard concerning is the size (by those who prefer a smaller package). Useful blade profile, handle shape, etc.

But then, I find the 710 about the closest to an ideal carry knife I've found as yet. A solid performer in most tasks.

I have a Rukus...love the Rukus! It is a LARGE knife with a 4.25" blade and an overall length of 10.12", factor in a weight of 7.7 ounces, and you see why it is LARGE. Nevertheless I find I can carry it comfortably and with the foldover clip only a small portion of the handle is visible out of your pocket. The grip is wide, but also very comfortable what with the forefinger handle groove. I really like it and think you can't go wrong with one, but you might try to handle one first and see if it is for you. The 710 is another great knife and a BM classic! I have not had the others you mentioned. Hope this helps a little bit.:)

(I am eyeing a rukus myself, for no good reason I can think of. Too huge to be practical really,) I own and carry a Rukus. It’s a manly knife that is very practical. I weight 250 and find for a bigger man the handle fits perfectly in my hand, The balance is so nice that it is a natural Flicker. It may be a tiny bit unpractical. Because you need to really watch out who is around when you pull it out to use it, This monolithic blade can be very intimidating to young children, small animals, and the elderly, and limp wristed lefties. It’s a real pig sticker. I may buy one more to stash incase BM stops making them.

Sharpness has nothing to do with the steel and everything to do with the dude finishing them at the factory. BM has thick edges, no doubt. Solution? Use it, then reprofile them. I'd for for the 710, just because it's easier to find than the discontinued 721 and slimmer than the 520

Ah, guess it was just coincidence that both the s30v rukus and native were a little sharper than the d2 710.

So every steel has the exactly the same capacity to reach identical levels of sharpness. Learn something new every day. Thx.

i have been drooling over the skirmish myself :jerkit:

Me too. Maybe not quite as enthusiastically as you...

So which version gets you :jerkit: ? The standard one with the rainbow dots? I like the blue handled one with light blue dots and black blade (630BK-502).

Definitely that one, but I handled the gold handle version recently and it was great too

i ordered the blue one and a regular apparition on sunday. plus i went for the presidio today. i basically sold a bunch of knives to keep my habit going. a cs black sable, warrior katana, magum tanto IX and a hatamoto. im now trying to decide between a regular seb, classic seb(both small), decorated damascus seb or just getting a 721 and yojimbo. im wondering if getting a damascus seb as my first crk is such a good ideaother than for collescting. to be honest its not like i have 2. what do you reckon?? im thinking that buying a dazmascus seb to edc is probably a bad move being htat i dont already own one to begin with.to be honest its not like i have 2. what do you reckon?? do you think that buying a damascus seb to use is such a great plan?

Well, provided that the steel is heat treated properly, steels can obtain similar levels of sharpness.
D2 can take a SHARP edge, but a more toothy sharpness than S30V thanks to its coarse grain structure.

I reckon you should slow down and gain some knowledge before spending another dime on a knife.

??i understand that damascus can be sharp, im just asking whether or not you think a damascus sebenza is too nice to edc if its the only sebenza you own.
i understand that peole with endless cash can edc a a sharpened £/$10,000,000 winning lottery ticket. im asking what you think, im not saying ill purchace based on just what you say. but what is it you think i need to learn. im just saying that those decorated damascus sebenzas look real nice but maybe too nice to edc.

but what is it you think i need to learn.

This will sound smartass, but I honesty can't figure out 80% of the time what you're talking about or what your asking.

These first three would be generally helpful:

Spelling
Punctuation
Ability to put together thoughtful, non run on questions.

These second two will help you pick out a knife that's right for you.

what your own opinion is.
wisdom.

Based on you posts it seems to me you want basically everything, nothing wrong with that, but you can't really compare should I get 3 benchmades to would you carry a damascus sebenza. You might should start out slow then move on as you define you needs and tastes.

Specifically if I only owned one sebenza and it was damascus, I would definitely try to use it as much as possible to get my monies worth by the enjoyment of use. There's more satisfaction in using then leaving in a safe or sock drawer.

The question you should be asking is, is a sebenza right for me as defined what you would like to do with it, and what features are important to you. As an example if flashy ninja wear is what you want, you'll be disapointed.

i bought my mum a damascus vg10 fallkniven dv series kitchen knife for her birthday but im just curious as to whether people here think that $600 knives are too nice to use for cutting up cardboard.

dont think that me asking other peoples opinions is an excuse for you to get upon you little high horse pal. forums are for asking other peoples opinions. getting advice and so forth.

so dont you ask for advice from others

or are you just having a bad day?
