Hey everybody,
Ive been reading on Bladeforums for the last few weeks and while i love it on here i have to say that the temptation to buy more knives then i have money for has grown exponentially.

I do a fair amount of traveling overseas and im looking for a new folder something that is stout enough to handle most things i throw at it including wet rainy, hot humid, desert, and cold weather. I use my knives but dont abuse them. Some of the knives that stand out to me are the lg sebenza, either skirmish (although the blade isnt my fav), the rick hinderer firetac, and bradley lg alias. I have had the privelage to handle all of those but the bradley. Right now the sebenza stands out because i can take it apart and give it a thorough cleaning whenever it needs it. (I really want like my knife to be rivited together) Im open to any suggestions you might have for me. for the record i dont particularly like linerlocks but im good with frame locks. I know there isnt much difference its just my preferance. Also before any of you suggest it, i dont want a manix ive handled it and while it is a sweet knife its too fat in the pocket (from the spyderhole to the spine of the knife when closed) also id like to keep it cheaper but i dont have too much of a problem spending $300 dollars or so on a quality knife.

Well, you can not go wrong with anything made by Rick Hinderer or Chris Reeves!

Thanks for the response. Is there anything you would recommend over the sebenza or hinderer firetac, that is maybe less expensive.

sounds like you prefer a larger blade how about a BM 610 or 615 the full size rukus is my edc, I've been extreemly happy with it. f

if you have handled them all and you like the skirmish, id go with it. Save yourself a couple hundred bucks and walk away with a knife you like. I see you like your titanium handled knives. I like em too. And like yourself i like all the knives you listed. Id only add an x18 to the list and the Scott cook lochsa (a little more expensive but one beaty of a knife =)) http://www.scottcookknives.com/lochsa.htm

Yeah currently im looking for a large knife because i have some small ones including a benchmades and spydercos.

I "kinda" like the skirmish but im just not sure of the overall usefullness of the blade shape.

Also id love a Lochsa but i dont want to wait a few months for one and i think its out of my pricerange. From what ive seen and read you usuall have to wait to get one and they start off at like 550 or more

also with regards to the skirmish, isnt it riveted together making it nearly impossible to take apart and even if its not doesnt it void the warranty to take it apart?

the CRKT M16-13 has done me well, but A sebenza would probably be the hot ticket.

My friend has a m16 from crkt and its a good knife and less expensive then most ive asked about but i dont really like aus-8 steel and i dont like liner locks

Basically im leaning towards a sebenza and i dont even mind paying the prices i just didnt know if there is anything better

better for a decent price of equal or less than the sebenza that is. and no i dont want a "is the sebenza worth the price" discussion

No one has mentioned spyderco - I'm not going to recomend a model, but it's worth taking a look at their range. The salt series will deal better with unfavourable conditions than most other knives but they aren't the nicest to look at. People seem to like the Manix too.

It is NOT riveted together, and yes, if Benchmade knows that you have taken it apart, it voids the warranty.
However, if you check it out thoroughly, and find no defects, you would probably never need the warranty.
