I seem to have a problem, my knife broke a spring and is inop. I am currently looking for a replacement to deploy with me when I go to Iraq.
It has to be easy to carry, reliable, hold its edge well. It needs to be able pop ammo can seals, pry open crates, cut conex inserts (essentially a giant reinforced cardboard box), and save my life if it comes down to it.

Busse active duty or Meaner Street. Check out the EE "busses for sale forum".

For less money, scrapyard scrapper 5.

How much $$$ do you have to spend?

There's a used scrapyard scrapper 5 in the equipment exchange with a sheath for a little more than that.

I would recommend a RAT knife. They have an excellent lifetime warranty, easily-sharpened and tough 1095 steel.

You should consider the HEST. It is around $100. The knife has a small prying tip at the end of the handle, a bottle opener and a small wire-cutter. It also comes equipped with nice micarta handle slabs that have a small space in between them so you can store whatever you want.

Take a look here:

(Be sure to contact Dale about you being in the military and when he will receive his next shipment)

EDIT

If you have trouble getting one, head over to the RAT subforum and contact R.A.T. (he's actually Jeff Randall, the owner of RAT knives). He'll be sure to help you out. ;)

Thanks guys for all the help, plenty of good suggestions. I think I may go with the RAT knife, but I will be sure to post when I make a purchase.

edit: Also I may sound stupid in asking, BUT how do I contact Dale?

folder: spyderco endura or endura "wave"

fixed: A RC-5 would probably fit the bill quite well, also have a look at our custom makers, their cheaper than you would think.
