When I am getting a new knife in my experience I tend to cut myself with it.

It just happened again - I have got a new Izula for Christmas and cut my hand by accident, while experimenting with the knife and wrapping cord (nothing serious of course :) ). Not sure why - probably a way for a knife to introduce itself as so to speak..

Is it just me or you, guys have similar experiences?

I ALWAYS mange to cut myself with a new knife.
latest was a Tramontina machete... first time was when my Mom finally let me have a knife as a kid, a Case Sodbuster... I cut myself with it by the time i got to the car...

RAT's bite, I got cut twice while wrapping my Izula and got cut once by the RC-6, didn't know I was being cut until I heard the "clink" of the blade stopping against my finger nail.
LOL :)

I'm a cook so I use a knife everyday for hours, and can count the number of times I've cut myself on one hand.

Burns however are another story :D

I've only cut myself a few times but my friends always laugh at me so I try not to make a habit out of it lol.

I got my Izula and my first cut today. I was wrapping the handle and tightening the wrap up when it pulled out of the sheath and across my thumb. Took forever to stop bleeding. Its easier to clean blood off a naked Izula so thats how im going to leave it.

pheww! i just got my izula today. it has yet to cut me. but ut us razor sharp, shaving in fact. one slip up and i could see myself getting cut

Steel is no good until it has been blooded... Yours sounds ready to go now.

And congrats on the new knife.

Yeah, I don't advocate slicing yourself up to give it that broken in feel.

I'm also enjoying a new Izula... spent some time today rigging up some paracord so I can attach it to my belt. Take it out and about tomorrow to see how it rides.

it took me quite a bit of time to get the cord lock on, 20 min, i really like the textured powdercoat. it feels great and will protect the knife. the other thing is that it hides wear. i dont usually like coatings but i like this one. what color izula did you get?

I picked up the OD model. Was half tempted to get the pink one for my wife while I was there, but she'd have tested it on me first had I done so.

I've also left the handle bare, though that is subject to change during any extended moment of boredom.

A knife is not truly your until it tastes your blood!

having said that, i can officially say i own about all my knives!:D

yeah i cant rap mine right now because i used the paracord as a lanyard. i just got black. i have gotten other knives in "tactical" colors, tan od, to me they just show more wear. one of the big selling points with mine was the warranty. i think that it is the best. ever.
