Hey everybody, well today was awesome for me, as I got a new knife. I'd been after this particular one for a little while now, and thanks to damocles1962/ aka John as many of you may know him by, I now have a benchmade mini rukus PE, in the satin finish. So kudos to you John

I'll put some pictures up later in the week, maybe a seperate review thread, or just added onto thisone when i have time off, but my initial impressions are this:

Box and pouch thing: Sure, the box is a bti damaged, but really, i don't mind, and sure the benchmade text on the pouch is a bit faded (unless its meant to be grey), but I really don't care, the pouch it pretty nice, I actually like it.

The mini rukus itslef is VERY NICE, I love it already. It feels good in my hand, and looks good.

Fit and Finish: So there are a few blemishes on the back of the knife liners, and the micarta handle scales are pretty dark, maybe from dirt and hand sweat, but seriously I don't mind, it adds, for me at least, character to this knife, even though I didn't put them there, I'll adopt them as my own :D

Clip: I'm not sure whether the original owner or John modified it, but it clips onto whatever your clipping it onto nice and secure. Sure it cuold be tighter, but I prefer to put it inside my pocket and, at elast on the pants I have, clip it to and inside little bit of fabric, so it won't come out. I also intend to get some orange paracord eventually, and put that through the lanyard hole.

Axis Lock: I love it already and see why alot of people do as well, its pretty damn cool, and of course I'll say that as its my first axis lock knife.
But yeah, I was told it will loosen up with time, so thats a plus also.

Handle: Fills my hand nice and well. Initially, due to some people comments and some photos, I thought the handles were going to be huge and way too long for my hand, however I just measured it, and when in my grip, theres only 15mm or 0.59 inches shoing out the back of my hand, which i think is fine.
The finger grooves are good, and I like them on this knife, it just feels really good and secure.

Blade: Well, I haven't sharpened it yet, and I'm still looking into getting a sharpening system when i have money, either soem ezylaps stones or a sharpmaker, but thats a whole other story. Anyway I'm not sure whether it had been sharpened or not, I think John said it was still the factory edge, either way its really very sharp, infact it had its first taste of blood. I was playing with the axis lock, and as I'm unfamiliar with it, the blade fell onto my finger and put a tiny little cut, perhaps like a paper cut, but at least theres no blood on the blade *phew*

So this is just my initialy impressions, maybe its more like a review, but no, its my thoughts based on holding it for the past few hours. In a weeks time I'll have photos up, and maybe expand a bit more on my thoughts. Basically, I think this is an awesome knife, and I can't wait to use it, whihc will hopefully be around april, wehn i go hiking in new zealand, and by then I hope to have maybe one more knife.
I know some here might think I'm crazy with this being my second knife purchase ever, but hey i don't regret it at all.
Also some people probably wouldn't use it considering its discontinued status, but I prefer to use things and tools i buy.

I can't wait to use it, and its done almost no cutting except slicing some plastic shopping bag a few times.

This knife sure beats my first one http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=712359, but I still like it, becuase it was my first one and I can pratice sharpening on it, so thats a plus.

Yeah these are my initial thoughts, i've probably repeated things a few times, also big thanks to John aka Damocles1962 and the seller, who I believe was kirbysdl, at the benchmade forums, but please correct me if I'm wrong, it all went very smoothly, and I really just wish I had more time to look at the nice knives John showed me, but yeah Kudos to you both.

Sorry if you hit a text wall unexpectantly, but I'll hope to have a decent review up soon.

thanks

Jono
