new knife!

my most recent acquisition[yesterday].i had bobby howard make this cowbone/5160 blade to my specs. the blade is 8 in. in length, and 2 in. wide. i really did not expect it to be quite that wide, but after forging it, bobby said he felt it should stay that size. he was right! i put my small mayo tnt in there for size comparison.I KNOW IT AIN'T PURTY, I JUST CAINT GIT INTA THEM PURTY N's {Actually, I think it is beautiful!}

very handsome (both of them)! I like the wide blade--adds some distinction, makes it a bit out of the ordinary. The guard looks nice too.

Great looking knife Russ. Personally I prefer a Wide blade, but I live out in the middle of nowhere and can actually carry a big knife and occasionally find a use for it.

That is one nice knife! You are sooooo lucky to live close by AND be such good friends with someone who Forges that well!! Enjoy it!

BAD TO THE BONE

That is one HELL of a solid looking knife! The handle looks like it would fit nicely in my big MITS too!!

I want to do a solid bone handle like that.....one of these days

. yes, i am lucky. there are 3 or 4 GOOD knifemakers around here, i am on a first name basis with all, and 2 of them are truly good friends. any will make whatever i request, no matter how strange, and bobby especially, is always doing little odd jobs concerning bladework for me.i am VERY fortunate.my bud that makes all my custom sheaths is only around 40 minutes away.
