We have a new tutorial section on the Custom Knife Directory. Just click the CKD Tutorial link on the button bar.

The first installments include making a liner lock folder, making a lock back folder, fitting dovetailed bolsters on a fixed blade, and making a simple fixed blade skinner. All tuts have excellent digital photos to show you what is being done.

This is just a start and we plan on having a comprehensive catalog of tutorials relating to all phases of knifemaking. All tutorials are done by knifemakers on their own time and their love of the craft shows in the detail of the work presented.

Let me know if you like 'em

I'm still in the process of learning about how to make knives, and I have to say that those tutorials took alot of the mystery out of it. It's been so hard to find a resource that could give me some idea as to what's involved in the process, and I have to thank you for pointing out this place that's actually willing to show you how it's all done. Now if you could get someone to do a tutorial on the forging of a knife from scratch, it would give us newbies a really good idea of what we were getting into.

My personal opinion: Great idea.

Hi, Dewey.
You will find many helpful folks here, on Knifeforums, and at the Custom Knife Directory. Don't be afraid to ask questions. The CKD tutorials will enhance all the fine info you can find on the web with great step-by-step instructions and lots of pictures. If you are like me, it is easier to visualize when you see it in color.

BTW, we will be linking to other excellent tutorials such as Bruce Evans and Tim Lively...
