Well, I just had my 48th birthday and I received two new knives as presents. First, my wife (you gotta love a woman who gives you knives for your birthday)gave me a Benchmade Mel Pardue Axis lock folder with 154cm steel, G10 handle and the clip point blade (which is kind of swept too). This is a way cool knife! It fits my hand, has a rock solid lock up, the blade was very sharp out of the box, and I really like the blade profile. I am now carrying it and giving my large Sebenza a well deserved rest.
Next, I received a Marbles Bison with Cocobola wood handle. I love this blade style, especially the large choil for choking up during delicate cutting chores. The grinds are nearly perfect and overall fit and finish is excellent. The leather sheath is well made and tight and I cannot detect any defects in workmanship. It too came very sharp out of the box. 52100 steel has a good reputation so I look forward to using this knife in the future.
I have heard some concerns here about QC at Benchmade and Marbles, but I must testify these two examples represent very high manufacturing standards. Of course your mileage may vary.
