Wheee. The camera came in today, and my first project was to photograph the knives I've gotten from David Farmer.

First is the Mouse, with cocobolo handle. I've reviewed that elsewhere, and so won't go into it.

But I wanted a necker, so David whipped out this beauty in damascus

I really like the deep choil. It gives a good solid grip, and the blade has a natural thumb-rest (Daid posted pictures of this knife earlier)

He also made me a modified TDP. I liked the Mouse a lot, but wanted a knife with a more substantial and rounded handle. This is what David came up with.

I hope the differences in the handles show up well. the modified TDP has a more round profile, and feels better in my hand (in MY hand... your mileage may vary) David took the TDP design and deepened the choil for me so that I have an extremely secure grip. The TDP is on the left, with the lighter colored grip (beautiful zebrawood)

David sends sheathes with his knives, and provided a nice kydex piece for the necker, and a simple, functional leather sheahe for the TDP.

Next step is to get the modified TDP made in Damascus, but not until I've lived with the design for a while (and re-filled my bank account)

As always, David delivered a handsome, razor sharp knife. Both are great cutters. The necker is very handy, coming easily into my grip. David added a silk cord with nice burl fobs so that I can slip the knife on my wrist if doing a lot of cutting.

I'm very happy with David's work. His prices are very reasonable, his delivery time is quick, and his product is excellent. Fit and finish are superb. I find him a plesure to work with. He listened to my ideas, and incorporated those with his expertise to produce exactly the knives I wanted. You should flood him with orders right after he finishes the Damascus TDP.

I still haven't figured out how to upload photos... so here is a link to the pictures...http://www.kodakgallery.com/PhotoView.jsp?collid=94186843413.88200053413.1210878272768&photoid=17230053413&folderid=0&UAUTOLOGIN_ID=94186843413&UV=554157739520_65411053413

nice looking stuff. Thanks for the pics.

I have a couple of DF knives, too. My first was a custom clip point w/ bocote scales, 1095 and convex grind. David originally suggested his standard 3/32 for better slicing, but I opted for 1/8" which was a lesson for me to listen to the designer. This was my first convex edge and it did not cut as well on the kind of stupid sharpness tests that I find so cool - popping hairs and slicing paper. I do own a razor and a scissors.
Anyway, I saw David's 'buxom' design on http://www.workingknives.com/product_info.php?cPath=26&products_id=58, and it came w/ a koa handle. As I am from Hawaii, I gave it a try. And guess what? Of all the eight or so custom fixed blades and a bunch of production folders I have, this nice handling $55 knife is my best samurai style paper killer and hair popper. For reference it out cut my Kershaw Lahar and Spyderco Native III, both w/ VG-10 on the 'stupid sharpness tests'. Aside from this it'll probably make a pretty good EDC for the trail, too. :D
PS. Yes, David is a real nice fella to work with.
