Hey I'm new to bladeforums, and to collecting/ buying knives. Right now i have a Kershaw Volt SS and a Buck Trapper along with a few bad knives that aren't worth mentioning. I was wondering what your guys opinions would be as to the following...
- What new knives should i get?
- Where should i get them?
- Favorite brands?

I really like the look Kershaw has along with buck knives as well. I was maybe looking for a new fixed buck like the 110 or the 119, but im not sure if i should get another Kershaw because i really like them. What do you guys think? i also don't use the knives to hunt i like to collect them and use them for everyday use. Looking forward to posting more on here! :D:D:D

First off, WELCOME to the community! I'm somewhat new here as well. I don't post too much as I mostly browse around the forums. As I'm sure you will soon learn, if you haven't already, that you are about to embark on an awesome journey (addiction) of knife collecting. Congrats to meeting your fellow addiction enablers

In regards to your knife search, were you looking for folders or fixed blades? Do you have a specific price range?

As far as places to buy, I would personally suggest bladehq.com. While I don't have any personal experience with the following online stores, some other well known retailers are: knifeworks.com, newgraham.com, knifeart.com, and knifecenter.com

spyderco sage 1 carbon fiber,
spyderco endura ,
zt 0566 & 0561 awesome,
some swiss army knives-cadet and soldier alox handles,
Kershaw Blur
Hogue ex01
Benchmade rift
Get them at Blade hq,Knifeworks,GPKnives,One stop shop knives.

i was looking at some fixed, but i know theyre mainly for hunting, so i guess just folders and thanks. those knives look pretty good. im assuming blade hq is the best and most popular place to go around here!! my price range is anywhere below 50 i guess i don't want to spend a fortune on knives until my collection is somewhat larger and i know im really committed to it. i guess as of now im just a "casual collector"

Welcome and enjoy the journey. Perhaps one place to start is to decide what you like' or don't like about the knives you own. What would you like to do with a knife that you currently do not do, perhaps because you do not have the correct tool, or perhaps you don't know how. Gaining knowledge about knives, uses, benefits, deficit's, etc. is all part of the fun and the journey. The more that the folks here know about you and your desired knife usage, the better that they will be able to help guide you. Always keep in mind to take any suggestion from anyone with a grain of salt. You will soon learn where truth comes from, from the people here. And there is a wealth of truth and good information here. Welcome again, and enjoy.

I too have been bitten buy the addiction recently also. For myself, I decided to try and resist buying any and every knife just to have a bunch of knives. I figured it's O.K. to have a lust for knives, but part of my addiction will be having hard to find, or limited runs(sprint runs)so I will have something not everybody has. I think a lot of trading, buying, selling goes with the addiction also. Also, if you like a certain brand, style, like a kershaw leek for example, try to find all the ones produced. That makes for a lot of pride points for yourself and others who share the same fondness for knife collections. jmo.

Just a couple of knives I might suggest are:

Esee Izula (small fixed)
Cold Steel Code 4
Spyderco Delica 4
Spyderco Endura 4
Cold Steel Recon 1
Spyderco Matriarch
Spyderco Native
CRKT M 16 or M 21

Those above are just some options around your price range. As you know, Kershaw has a lot of options as well. Its great to get suggestion from others, but the way I learned whats out there is looking through manufacturer websites and checking out the brands on online stores.

While they may be a bit above your price range at the moment, some knives I have my eyes on are:

Chris Reeve: Large Sebenza 21 or 25
Spyderco:
Vallotton
Military
Medford Knife and Tool:
Marauder
Viper
Arktika
Tff-3
Emerson: Super Roadhouse
Crusader Forge: FIFP
ZT:
0560
0770CF
801CF
Bastinelli Creations: Big Drago Tac
Kingdom Armory Knives
Strider Knives: SMF
Extrema Ratio
Lionsteel:
SR-1
TS-1 Ti-spine
Microtech:
Socom Delta
D.O.C.
Pohl Force: Mike One
Viper Knives: Keeper

I listed all these so you could have an example of many high quality knife manufacturers and some of the products they offer. I would again suggest browsing around the companies' websites and sites like bladehq.com. Who knows...maybe some day in the future you will be considering buying knives similar to the ones listed above  Above all, enjoy the search and the amazing pieces of art that are out there!

Another welcome here! Glad to have you aboard. Fixed blades are definitely not just for hunting. Many of us carry smaller FBs daily as our main utility (everyday use) knife. ESEE and Becker make some outstanding and affordable small FBs that'll do just about anything within reason. Since you're new to knives, you may want to start out by trying a sample of as many manufacturers as you can. Different brands, different blade shapes, different locks... that'll help you get an idea of what you really like, what works for you, and the size/weight of a knife that you'll actually carry. Believe it or not, a lot of us buy knives on looks only to find out that it doesn't suit us for some reason. So it sits until we sell it or trade it away. A great knife won't do anything for you if you won't carry it for one reason or another.

Enjoy the hunt!
