I just got these from Coop, you may have seen the Cholla knife before but the photos are new, when I finished it I was close to deadline so I didn't have time for proper photos. When the knife came back for repairs from a door ding (he dropped it in his gun safe and the lip at the threshold put a ding in the bolster) I took the opportunity for some Pro. photos. The other two are brand new, one for a local guy and one for Switzerland. I think the photos are great, the knives I am pretty happy with although I can always pick out a few things I might have done differently. I hope you enjoy having a look at them.

The Cholla Knife, has cholla (choya) cactus, desert ironwood, torquoise and nickle silver.

For a local guy, has mammoth tooth, heat colored musk ox horn and mokume.

you Alaskans are nuts, or you have kickass chronic. In either event, keep up the good work!:cool:

Mark,

Your handle work is always outstanding and the blades and display racks on these are equally as nice. Good job! You know that I am a big fan of unique and you certainly found it with these beauties. Someone is going to be a proud owner.

Mark they are all over the top but that torquoise one is unreal your knives have a look all there own .

I swear that Mark's knives have a special ingredient that must come from the smell or something...

They make me smile when I unwrap them! :D Happens every time.

I am pleased for the future clients of these. They will make many a happy moment. :)

Could you please let us in on how you heat colored the Musk ox? It is among my favorite material and I've never seen it this way before.
Thank you.

Those are ALL beautifully done...knives, sheaths and stands.

Pleasure seeing them Mark.

Also...GREAT pictures Coop.

Thank you very much everyone, I appreciate it. The musk ox horn, (any horn) can be colored in your oven, you have to be carefull though, there is a very fine line between just enough heat and too much heat, you can ruin some very expensive material. Try 350 degrrees for about fifteen minutes, your results will very depending on what kind of horn you have, how dry it is, how thick it is and your elevation. Check it frequently starting at 10 minutes, as soon as it turns orange take it out, a few seconds later it will be worthless. If you do mutiple pieces at once take them each out as they change, if you wait for the last ones to be ready the first ones to turn will be burned. Have fun with it. Mark

Mark, your knives have a totally unique and wonderful character, combining ultimate utility with uncompromising artistry. I constantly marvel at their beauty as seen through the lens of Coop. Great work, fellas, and I mean GREAT!

Unreal Mark,
Here the rest of us are trying our hardest not to burn or discolour our musk ox and you go and do it deliberately:thumbup:
Cheers Bruce

Do you think that would help?:D

works for me!:D

I'm gonna head up to Alaska one of these days and visit you crazy cats. You guys and gals are having way too much fun up there.
