New kydex sheath, and an idea that might not have worked

I decided to make myself a new kydex sheath today, and I had a few new ideas to try out. The sheath turned out great. I used a leather belt to make loops to attach a teklok to so I could carry vertically and scout carry. That turned out great!

The other idea I had was to epoxy a piece of OD green mil surplus shirt to the outside. It doesn't look promising, but I will see how it turned out in the morning when the epoxy is set. In any case I started another sheath and will make another set of loops for that one as well :D

Nice looking sheath.

If you didn't know, Tek Lok's are designed to be mounted on a sheath for Vertical carry as shown in your picture or Horizontal AKA Scout carry. You just need to make sure that the holes you drilled line up with the holes on your Tek Lok. No need for extra hardware, rotate the tek lok 90 degrees depending on how you want to carry it. ;)

Yeah, I did know that but I wanted something cooler ;)

I like the design of your sheath. The concept is interesting. You'll have to tell us how well the connection between the leather and the TEk-lok hold up over time.

well, this morning the canvas looked like shyt, and it peeled off the first time I pulled just a little. Oh well the sheath is still good.

If you like the design and you're a Kydex bender, why not substitute heavy Kydex for your leather straps? It would be a lot more resistant to flex.

Itching armpit? In vertical set up it looks like the pommel will be right up to your armpit.

No, its not bad. And I like my sheaths to ride a bit high. I don't like the entire blade hangin.
with my izula2 for comparison
