Hi people

Heres what happened. Me and my wife were in the mall doing the last of are xmas shopping and so we went to one of those little booth were they wrap gifts for a small fee and donate the money to charity. My wike ask to use my knife to cut a tag off one of the gifts before the present was wrapped i reach back to get my Sebenza out of my back pocket and it's not there . Will needless to say my heart stopped beating!
I start to look all over the mall for it and i'm asking everybody i see if they have see my knife and naturally nobody has!
I finally go out to my truck having given up all hope of ever seeing my knife again and right there on my seat is beloved Sebenza So i decide right then and there that i'm not going through that again and there's no way i'm going to stop carrying my knife!

My only two option are carry my knife in my front pocket which hate doing or come up with a new lanyard. Will i made a new lanyard and this is what i came up with let me know what you think?

Looks cool to me, definantly functionable...one thought, not sure where you are from but pick pockets love wallets, keys, etc. on a laynard. Makes it real easy to slide out of the pocket.

Pickpockets are not a real problem around here but the good thing about the little coupling on this lanyard is it makes a pretty good popping sound when it comes a part

The problem with a sheath is i usually have a fixed blade knife, my cell-phone and my key on my belt, it's all ready so heavy i look like one of those rapper kids with my pants falling down around butt;) :D

I like it! What exactly is that little coupling and where can they be found? Can't say I've ever seen anything quite like it.

It's just a little breakaway coupling

I cut mine off of a lanyard that came with a pelican flash light i had!

I'm not sure where you can get one but if you do internet search for lanyards you'll probably find thousand of places. I just did one all i seen was wholesalers but didn't look real hard.

I think that was a Great Idea! Very innovative. If the handles were anodized then the Lanyard material would even match. :) This should give you alot of peace of mind when carrying such a fine knife.

One trick I use with a lanyard is to tie a large knot on the end of the lanyard (best if it's thickish cord) then have about 5" of cord leading to the knife. Put the knife in your pocket and push the knot up under your belt NETSUKE style. It works pretty good, and a quick tug releases the knife.

Jacknife,
Thanks! That is a great idea! I don't typically have a problem with knives falling out of pockets they're clipped to, but it's always possible, and some clips hold better than others, some worse. (My Spyderco Walker spent two years in exile in a chair in my office because of the loose fit. Seriously, it got found two years after I lost it -- and the day after I finally ordered a replacement!)

I think that a really good knot for this purpose is one called the Knife Lanyard Knot. Look for it in knot books by Geoffrey Budworth. (I believe it is also called the Diamond Knot.) It can be doubled for extra girth, and it looks nice and decorative.

Glad you like it Jeffrey.

The only thing you have to watch is if you drop your pants, like when going to the can. Make sure you reset it afterwards. ;)

If you aren't worried about fast deployment you can push the knot up under the belt, then feed the knife through the loop above the belt and then into your pocket, then it's 100% secure.

Nice laynard. Good idea with the "breakaway" plastic piece. I've seen those little coupling things on neck laynards. I thought it was the breakaway piece so you don't get hung up on anything. A craft store might sell them by themselves.

How about carrying it in your front pocket? I've never had a folder slide out of my front pocket, unlike my back. Either that or just carry it deep pocket in a slip sheath.
