Hello this is my first post, just wanted to share an older sebenza I found locally. It's in BG-42 steel and even though its been a floor model for 16 years its the smoothest knife I've ever handled, even after carrying an umnumzaan since 2009! cool knife. I'm going to contact chris reeve knives to see if they would refurbish a knife of this age, it has some scratches from being in a glass case and handled over the years.

Great snag! Send her in for a spa and she will be like new. Just be ready to wait 8 weeks.

Great Get !!!! The folks at CRK will do a great referb on your older Sebenza. If possible, take some detailed before and after photos. I've seriously considering sending my Lg 21 tanto back to the mother ship for a tune up. Good luck and great find.

Not only did you score a BG-42 Regular, you scored an early one with the old style clip, wow! Great find, and welcome!

Welcome to BFC arth !!!!!!!
Great find, you know, they're meant to be used. You can send it in at anytime in its life and get it looking sparkling new again. Why not carry/use it a bit before sending it back in?
I'm curious, the Umnumzaan is right handed and the regular is left handed, what's up with that ?

left pocket and right pocket! haha just kidding, it was the only Chris Reeve knife they had and i couldn't pass it up. One of my good friends is left handed so after i try it out for a while i might pass it along. ill definitely take photos before/after sending it in. it's pretty dirty/greasy/dusty on the inside so ill be taking it apart to clean it soon, will be interesting to see how it compares to the umnumzaan taken down.

thanks for the welcomes

Personally, I wouldn't send it back for a spa. I'd be afraid they would replace washers and such and it wouldn't be as smooth as it is now. The last one I sent in came back a bit gritty/stiff. I have one now that I just sent to a buddy to sharpen (I suck at it) rather than sending it to CRK for this exact reason. It's buttery smooth now and I don't want to lose that.

..... and holy cow how amazing that you found something that has been sitting in a case that long. I wish I could find that kind of a deal.

You can ask that they not replace washer, and they won't. When I'm doing that I print out the request in wrap it around the knife before I ship it.

Looks great...and welcome to the madness. Remember - we all used to be normal citizens, with more money than knives.

I took a quick video to show the knife, its pretty hard to photograph and show what it really looks like.

haha I know, this is a dangerous site for me for that reason; i do always like to keep my collection very slim though. quality over quantity. I'm happy with the two Chris knives i have here for locking folders.

Great Score. I had purchased over a dozen CRK one piece knives before I finally decided to try a CRK Folder. My first Sebenza...??? A Large Regular BG-42 Old Clip just like yours. It was in excellent condition. Still have it too....!!! And NO it's not for sale guys/gals.... Lol. Out of all the folders I have ever tried, the large regular sebenza still remains my favorite.

ive never handled a reeve fixed blade, im sure they're nice. when I first wanted one of these knives the regular was pretty long gone, even the classic. I think it was between the sebenza 21 and umnumzaan; I went with the umnumzaan and never looked back until i saw this one. before the umnumzaan all I had was a swiss army knife, Im glad to say I think I've never had to carry a bad knife. that's somewhat rare these days trust me.
