Well, after spending the last couple of weeks testing the Basic 9 in the field, it has now found a permanent place on my LBV. Read previous threads to see what it took the place of. When other people saw the size of it they made smarta$$ comments but it was funny when they all ended up borrowing it when they found out there's were too small etc. Maybe I'll have Normark make me a sheath for my BM and re-evaluate that also. Job well done Jerry.

What's an LBV?

IIRC, LBV = Load Bearing Vest. A gear hauler by any other name does not make the load lighter or the trail to the objective any shorter.

Load Bearing Vest.

RokJok beat me to it.

Was just looking them up in my Blackhawk Catalog...man those are cool...I have no use for one though, so I guess I'll get two.

Flatlander, what kind of vest and where and how did you attach the sheath? I've been trying to talk myself out of buying a Blackhawk rig. Would be a nice setup with all the extra ammo and a blade attached though. Like Markus said, may have to buy two

It's a Blackhawk Enhanced LBV item #31SF03WC for the woodland camo. $168.95 retail. I just used the nylon sheath that came with it and attached on the right side of my web belt. I put my mini survival kit and sharpener in the outside pouch. The blade width from spine to edge seems to be about perfect for me. It was used to build 3 shelters, clear fields of fire, camo, and even cut roots and performed very well.

Guys,
I gotta step in on this one and say stick to
Eagle or SOE equipment.I here London Bridge is some tuff gear also.Had problems
with Blackhawk gear in the past and like my
Busse I want my gear to last. Blackhawk gear is now made overseas.

Shadow45, thanks for the additional info.

These guys may have to add a new model vest to their lines, drop off some ammo pouches and add attachment points for Busse Knuts that may have to carry three combat models,
two serial numbered and three basics just to not feel naked in front of the enemy.

Oh yeah, with a velcro bottle opener pouch and a Busse business card display panel!

Not intended as a flame Shadow, but, there's at least 15 guys in my unit with Blackhawk gear and they've never had any problems. Eagle does make quality products also though and I've heard nothing but good about London too. Normark, I'll get with you soon, there's a bunch I need re-sheathed.
