Hi

I own an original wave(pre-1994) and recently upgraded to a new version of the Charge Tti. The new Charge is really stiff and difficult to open and it's been so long since I bought a leatherman, I can't remember if my original wave was this stiff at the beginning too. Now that it's over ten years old it opens with ease and maybe the charge will be the same after use.

Anybody else have this problem with a new Leatherman? Any suggestions?

Most Leathermans come very stiff from the factory. They have to be worked in to loosen up a little. Shouldn't take took look and it'll have a nice action when it's all set and done. Anther thing to consider is getting two T10 security torx bits and loosening it up a little. Hope this helps :)

Hey thanks guys. I noticed it getting a little bit better today. I tried with the security torx and it helped a bit. I still can't believe how much more solid this tool is compared to the original Wave. Fills the hand nicer too. I may have to take a look at the REBAR model next although I just picked up a Delica4 from Spyderco on sale at Amazon so I probably should lay low for a while before the Mrs. gets too mad at me.

The Rebar is definitely worth checking out.

I had the same problem earlier this week. A little time with a Dremel polishing wheel and some polishing compound on the two ramps in the middle fixed it right up.
