I'm looking to add a multi tool to my EDC. I have a leatherman Micra on my keychain for the past couple of years and its great, just looking for something full size.

Price is not an issue; with that in mind what multi tool would you carry? at a quick glance, i see the wave, skeletool, fuse, core, surge...

Size isnt an issue, so in the case of a leastherman, is the more $$$ the better??

I keep my EDC's long term and look forward to years of use, what LM should I get? I want your opinions and experience before I research... your use is what im looking for.

The Wave is the best selling Leatherman. Can't go wrong with it.

The 300 is pretty awesome as well. Its big and beefy, but lacks the scissor.

So I say Wave.

Wave is great. If size is no issue, the Super Tool 300 is bigger, heavier, has better wire cutters, and will stand up to more abuse.

I'm told the Charge TTi is everything the Wave is but better — Ti scales, S30V blade. One is on my Christmas wishlist.

Have you looked at other brands as well? Many people think that Victorinox has excellent quality and that SOG's multitools are very heavy-duty.

I carry a SOG with a ClipDraw pocket clip added. Since I always carry a dedicated knife, I wanted the best pliers on a multitool I could get and went chose the SOG.

If you don't carry a pocket knife I'd say get the Charge with a pocket clip.

I have a number of the MT's, but I am currently looking at the Surge... all the same tools as the Wave, but adds a stranded wire cutter and a crimper, things I would use during my daily work. It also adds an Awl, something pretty useful in the woods.

SOG Powerlock are terrific as well, so is the Victorinox Swisstool and Spirit.

Another option would be to go down-market and spend the remaining money on beer. :) I have a Kick that sits on my desk. It cost next to nothing on a popular online auction site, but I wouldn't hesitate to rely on it in a pinch. The drawbacks over the Wave are that the Kick's tools don't lock and the blades can't be open one handed. But if those things don't bother you, it really is a solid little (cheap) tool.

I just recently purchased the ST300, great tool :) However, some may consider it too heavy for pocket EDC.

Hi,

Although I have quite a few Leatherman tools, the one that I carry most of the time is the Blast. This has the usual pliers and wire cutters, clip blade, three flat screwdrivers, phillips driver, can opener, metal file and scissors. Weight is comfortable at 6.9 ounces and the Zytel hand inserts make gripping with the pliers also very comfortable. Prices are reasonable if you do a little searching.

Best - Joe

if you have the funds go for the Charge TTi, if not ...ride the Wave. You can't go wrong with either one. Good luck with your choice, post up some pic's if you get a chance after you obtain one.

Thank you all replying. after doing a bit of reading and watching some youtube video's and reviews, I ended up with a wave (and beer like mnblade said). i'll post some pics later today!

Leatherman Kick, Wave and Supertool are my favorites. And like somebody else said if you don't mind the size go for the Supertool

I have a Super Tool, a Kick, and a couple Juices and Squirts. By far the one I use most is the Kick. I don't have one yet, but I think the Wave is a great choice.
