I took this camping last weekend and ended up using it for almost everything (I had the puukko, too). It's not a bad chopper for light work. It batons quite well (I only used it on smaller stuff, so I didn't test it fully). The blade is narrow enough at the base that it's pretty good for delicate work, too. I tempered it back enough that it shouldn't break except under really extreme use. The puukko is harder and cuts noticeably better, but I still ended up using the leuku more.
At a hair under 6.5" in the blade, this is pretty short for a leuku. I'd definitely like to try out a longer one (maybe a more typical 8" blade), but I think this is a pretty good all-around blade. I wouldn't have felt at all handicapped last weekend without the puukko.
Thanks for looking.
