As new knives were added to my rotation, this little guy kept being pushed back further into the back of the drawer. It seemed a shame to let a decent knife go to waste,so I decided to give it a new lease on life.

Added a little jute twine, fatwood, firesteel, and tire tube.

Now it makes a handy little fire kit...

A little practice.....

Some fluffed up jute and fatwood shavings.

As luck would have it ,it started to rain as I was getting my tinder prepared.
Six strikes later ,I had fire.

It lasted a few minutes, but more fatwood would have been better.

Now this fine little knife gets carry time again. As a EDC kit, and a fine backup to my "real" daypack kit.

Thats a cool little kit!

The knife looks comfy for a small bugger. Nice fat handle....

I've done something similar with one of my JK's as well, I'll get some pics up next week, I'm about to go to work and then head out of town.

I like it. Getting a knife from being not used so much to being in the EDC rotation is pretty cool. Thanks for sharing.

Neat little kit! I wish they still made the old Altoids tins, without the raised lettering. It was so easy to remove the paint and have a plain flat-top tin.
