I feel like half my Emerson collection comes from Ebay's bargain basement for hard used toys:eek:.
So far I have a CQC-7 that had a damaged tip reground into a spearpoint (currently getting a zero grind by Josh at Razor Edge Knives) and now I just bought a Sark that looks like it's been to hell and back. I plan to have safety orange G10 scales made for it and just ordered new handle screws, pocket clip, pocket clip screws, and a new pivot screw from Emerson and would like to have the rounded tip taken off making it into a Psark. This is one of the main reasons I love Emerson knives, with a little love they'll keep doing the job long after anything else.

Anybody else that's "rescued" an Emerson please post up some pictures.

Not many things look as good to me as a well used knife. Wish they could talk..the story's they might tell.

Looks like it was used for the reason it was built! I'm always on the look out for user Emersons or ZT's but they can sometimes be hard to find.

That Sark looks awesome, I just picked up a P-Sark last night.

Make sure to post up pics when she gets done!

That does not look bad for a knife that has potentially been used on and off for 16 years. Just a thought to keep things in perspective. If you want cleaner looking tools, then you have to buy newer stock.

I didn't mean to sound like I was upset about the condition in the slightest. I prefer to buy used Emerson's and replace whatever parts are worn, I get a little tear in my eye when I think of all the knives that are discarded because they look worn. Plus you get the benefit of them already being broken in.[emoji2]

I was watching that on the bay. Good buy! I personally really like the worn scales. If I got it I'd have just replaced all the hardware and maybe a new liner lock.

The lock is actually perfect, I just prefer my G10 to be sandpaper grippy as opposed to smooth.

I like bargains. I payed a total of 190$ for my last 13 and mini 7 combined.
That is about what I like to spend. So a new Emerson is not an option. But I am always down to care for a used knife at half the price. Always nice. That goes for most knives.

weirdly emersons used.... look good to me, other knives not always. makes no sense, i'll admit...but i always considered emerson to be users, not collectibles. maybe it's a personal thing. nice catch enjoy 'er.

I haven't rescued any Emersons, but that is a great idea, and wow that is from 2000, the year alone makes it cool in my eyes; I bet you could just resharpen it and keep on using it for another 16 years; very nice. Btw, I saw it in the other gaw thread but I didn't say anything, I don't know why. As MTurbo said, the stories it could tell....

I am mailing it out for the scales today and Emerson just sent the tracking for the hardware so pictures should be up next week or so.

That's typically my thought as well unless it is a rare or special variation. Sometimes you just have to cough up the big bucks.

My Sark back from Rayster with all new hardware and some safety orange scales!
Now to send it out again to have the tip ground into the Psark profile.

Looks great! The scales are perfect!

Are you going to have the coating and serrations removed?

Thanks!
I like the used look on coatings, I usually just prefer to make them look that way myself. As for the serrations I like combo edge knives so I will probably just have them sharpened and have the point made well, pointy.
