With the economy being so bad, I`m considering bringing out a line of knives, with any standard handle material, for a base price of $125 + $6 shipping, without a sheath. (sheath can be ordered for $15) I`m thinking about 8" overall, with a 3 1/2" blade, 1/8" thick. What I need to figure out is what blade shape (or shapes) would be most popular, that`s where you guys come in. Please post in the poll (multiple choices are allowed) and help me out! Also, please post in the thread your reasons.

Im posting this pic up cause sometimes I have to refer to it cause I kinda have a bad memory. Thought it may help a few of us, Im sure everyone else know better than me but sometimes I have to cheat!

I voted for clip point and straight back! My primary reasons are this. I like a pointed tip for things such as removing zip ties where you need a point to to slip in to make a cut. The other reason is I do a lot of cutting that requires piercing so the pointed tip is a big help for me. I know that may not be as popular for the bushcraft stuff but it is with me. and as far at the straight back, well I just love the look and the way it feels when Im using it for working and slicing etc. - Joel

I picked three (spear, clip, wharnie). Of the ones on the list, those would be what I would choose between and find the most useful.

My all around favorite is drop point.

I picked spear, clip, and wharncliffe. I didn't see drop point listed. Isn't that more of a blade style for bushcraft or general outdoors use?

I agree the clip is pretty standard.

What is your target audience? What are they using your knives for? That would dictate the direction you might go in for blade. A knife can look good, but if the blade style does not suit the task at hand, it's just a hunk of metal.

I chose clip, semi wharn and wharn. The clip's cutting surface is very similar to the spear's and to me the wharny's are just about perfect for most normal cutting jobs.

I've always liked Spear point, no particular reason. They just work well for me..

I know a what a Wharncliff is but can someone explain what a "semi" Wharncliff is?

Since the week of the 14th looks to be down to one order, maybe I should try to make a couple?

I did not vote because there was no choice for drop point.
I'll bet you a dollar that if drop point had been offered as a choice, it would be winning.

so here is my write in ballot
[Drop point

Actually Drop points are pretty nice..!

..

return of the budget line, yay, dare I say LRK? :)

I voted for spear and wharncliff

my reasons are my own :p

I'd actually vote whancliff for pure utility (as in the examples above) but I think spear catches more eyes generally if I were to guess. FYI, don't give up o the deluxe line idea, hit the market from both ends why not? ;)

I have received 5 or 6 emails saying this idea is just not practical, that if I can`t sell knives at the regular price, a lesser priced model won`t make much difference. I`m going to scrap this idea.
