So my daughter has seen me around knives long enough. I have a place in the house where I am staging tools because I am building a workshop. In some of her books she points to boys and calls them "Ethan". She loves my Beckers. She is 2 years old and when it finally stops raining here, I will show her, her first time how to set up a fire and we will have a nice little camp out.

The knife is a BK7 and the sheath was done by Azwelke, so the blade ain't commin' out.

Lord!!! you should have seen the look on my wife's face when one of our daughters first words was knife! She soon graduated on to asking daddy for a knife when she could not open something, or telling me to cut whatever she was wanting open. She is 2.5 and she has a very good understanding on what a knife is for. I received my first blade when I was 5 and have had one in my pocket ever since. I will probably follow suit depending on their maturity level. I just found it amazing that my daughter has the understanding that a knife is not something to be scared of, it is not some offensive weapon, it is not some ninja-esque item, and it is not a toy. She has understood this since she started understanding things LOL. I am in no way advocating giving babies knives, but it is amazing to see that responsible/proper use of a tool can influence perception.

What a beautiful little girl you got there! Reminds me of when my daughter was that age.

Good job getting her indoctrinated so young. It's never too soon or to late to get your kids interested in Becker knives & spending time with daddy!

Thanks for the kind words guys! The wife is also annoyed because the daughter just comes to daddy and asks for a knife. I am hoping for a son next time. I will definately camp with my daughter, but if she doesn't like it, at least she could use a BK5 to help mom in the kitchen!

The greatest joy I get from this forum is seeing kids taught about the outdoors, responsibility and knives. Our sub-forum is a collection of the pinnacle of educating our youth, in my opinion.
Good on you brother!!!!

My boy is only 9 months old, so he is starting to figure out what all this knife business is about. My girl though is a mountain woman, I swear, loves to be barefoot, and loves the outdoors. I took her on a hike not too long ago and she ate it up!

When buying blades I try to find designs and blades that will last the test of time. I buy blades to use, but I want to be able to hand them down to my children, or my children's children. This is one of the reasons I love Beckers. I know that I will get years of enjoyment out of them, and so will whoever I hand them down to. It is nice to think that when my kids are my age they will have the blades I used, and now they can use them, but that will be their decision.
