new lock side on my 0560.

So i just recently got my zt0560 back from kai, i sent it in due to a really sticky lockup to the point i had to pry the lock back out with a screw driver to get it to unlock. The warranty department at kai was awsome. I sent it in and in a couple weeks had it back with a fresh edge and a new lock side. The only quible i have with it is that the new side isnt machined out like the other one was, on the other hand it does have a new steel lock bar insert so i think its prolly for the best. Maybe with the new insert they couldnt machine it out and still retain the same strength? What do you guys think. Thanks for taking the time to let a new forum member know what you think.
 
When you say isn't machined out like the other, in what way. A pic would really help with that. My zt561 has the steel insert but my 560 doesn't. I don't remember noticing any particular differences inside the scale when they were apart other than the lock bar insert. Or do you mean the outside not being textured?
 
I think he's referring to the milling out / semi-skeletonizing of the inside of the locking scale.
 
Its normal the new lock sides with the insert are not machined. Just how it us they dont need a reason.
 
I prefer the machined look on the lock side. And I don't have a lockbar insert.
 
This was the first thing I noticed when I got my 0561 with the lockbar insert. My old non-insert 0561 is milled out inside, the one with the insert is just smooth inside. No idea why they made a change, shouldn't affect the lock bar at all. I'm guessing it was purely cost savings in order to keep the price at the same level.
 
Im glad to know that mine is not an anomaly. Thanks for the replies everyone. I would like to let everyone know this is not a complaint with my knife or the service i recieved from kai. I was just wondering if mine was diffrent from anyone elses. Thanks again.
