New look for the Remora

Why yes, yes it is. Very cool:

I guess it makes sense being carbon steel now.

But yeah like a lot of us I will strip it anyway. I think the carbon steel Remoras are the only Kabar Becker's still in production I dont have. I need to get on that.

Guess its just easier for Ka-Bar to keep the production finishes the same. The clear coat ones are nice tho :D

Now I need to go look for a black one for the collection....

The U.S. made ones are hollow ground, correct?

I have one of my own, and one that I am working on and I believe it us a U.S. made one (read: 1095 crovan).
Hollow ground (not ffg)
Rougher milled surface (not surface ground)
Thinner BTE than the Chinese made (.025-.030 versus .040-.045)
Feels like it was ran harder when responding to sharpening.
Says Olean, NY and the Becker engraving and not the made in China engraving anywhere on it.

Does anyone have some comparative input, or at least anything that can corroborate my findings?

This is my current USA made 13. Straight from Ka Bar, with the clear coating on it.

As to the rest of your questions: i don't have calipers :D but its an awesome little blade. And yes it does feel a little harder the the Chinese one I have.

Thanks folks.
I am curious how it would look with a full length swedge? It would help the slicey-ness (yea, that's a word now).

i guess i'm the only one that misses the made in usa stone tumbled stainless model

I really like the looks of the black coating. I don't remember exactly when I got this one, but I think it was around the end of 2015. Great little pocket blade.

I have one but it my daughter's that she bought with her own money. I hoped to pick one up when the clear coats came out but a 1095 showed up. If anyone knows of a source PM me. There's gotta be some out there

I see one listing as powder coated 440a but I'm assuming these are still 1095, eh?

midway looks like they still have some in 440.

A lot of sellers haven't bothered to update their description, that's how I ended up with my 1095.
I just placed an order with a seller who claims to have 5(now 4) 440a in stock.
PM me if anyone wants info.

The one I keep in my EDC bag is a 440a stainless.

I only seem to have two pictures of it. Weird.
