Hello to all and thanks for any help I'm considering getting into knife making I'm located in selah Washington. I'm looking for someone in the area of selah/naches/tieton to teach me the ropes and help me get started. I'd like to make custom knives as a side gig...more or less for the fun of it I like working with metal and having the challenge of new things. Being a hunter I have a profound type of respect for a razor sharp blade. I also seem to be finding my self using my utility style type knife for everything. I would like to carry my own hand made blades. If this is in the wrong area please redirect it to the correct area... as stated I'm new here. Thanks

Welcome to Bladeforums.

My guess is that YouTube is your best bet for knife crafting information, given a tight geographical restriction. There may be bladesmiths in the Yakima area, but I don't know of them if they're out there. You might check for knife makers at local gun shows or craft fairs.

Are you looking to forge blades or do stock removal?

Good luck with your knifemaking journey.

Join the ABS as an Apprentice or get into local blacksmithing, there are plenty of ‘Smiths in your neck of the woods….a less expensive alternative and you’d be able to use carbon steels and heat-treat yourself

There are courses offered by various organizations. David Boye and Bob Terzuola both had well respected books.
