New M6 Sheath question

I just snagged an M6 (my first rat) off the forsale forums and had a couple sheath questions. Does the "short" version of spec-ops survival sheath, which states it'll fit a 6" blade, fit an M6? I don't want to shell out 50+ bucks and find out it fits like crud!! And also does anyone know who can make a nice black leather dangling sheath?

Thanks so much!

Thanks for the congrats, I'm really excited about my new rat, I don't have any Busse or Rat knives so the quality and craftsmanship is all new to me. I'm sure my jaw will hit the floor once it's in my hands!!! I emailed armoralleather checking on a custom sheath. The knife came with the nylon pouch one from the company store, I don't think it'll ride low enough for my taste though.

azrael's custom leather, aka leatherface, aka dave, just did this non dangling sheath for my scrapper 6, I'm sure he could do an M6 sheath for you as well. Prices are very reasonable.

Great sheaths!
To answer the original question, the M6 fits snugly in the shorter survival sheath.
YMMV

Another option would be to get a BuyBrown kydex sheath from the company store at www.shop.ratknives.com
It's a high ride, but I like that sometimes.

The top sheath done to my specs by leatherface, who frequents this board and scrapyards. The total cost was verrrryy verrryyy reasonable! PM him for details, but lets say i don't want to give away how inexpensive it was to everyone.

I took my new m6 + buy brown kydex hunting with me for the past week+. I spent a lot of time fighting the sheath trying to find a comfortable carry that high on my waist. I ended up clipping the teklok to the front pocket, and hanging the kydex + knife inside the pocket, handle exposed. The pants had big enough pockets that this wasn't cumbersome, but it isn't practical on any pant other than these.

I'm still not 100% on the sheath. I like a horizontal or angled carry, but the lips of my kydex aren't really strong enough to hold it that way without it falling out if jarred. I think a lot of that was that the knife is handle heavy when carried horizontally, so the single teklok is attached to the kydex in a position that allows the handle to dip below level, biased towards the ground and ready to fall out. I made a paracord lanyard with monkey's fist for it, then looped the monkey's fist through a belt loop as a kind of 'knife safety' but it required more work to unsheath the knife when needed.

That short spec-ops looks nice but I can't tell if it would allow me to lash it horizontally to a belt. Can you report back if you get it please?

Absolutely Diversionmary, I'll be picking it up very shortly here, maybe in another week or two. What I can tell you is the spec ops looking sheath on the website is very nicely made. My knife came with one and it is pretty nice, seems sturdy enough I carried it around for awhile on my belt lastnight and it felt really nice. I havent tried it horizontally however, so I will try that tonight and at least let you know how that works out seeing as it's what, 18 dollars as opposed to 50+ for spec ops.

The Spec-ops sheath will fit. If you want it tighter or looser, its a quick fix with a hair dryer. It will put the butt of the knife about a 1/4in. from the top of your trouser belt. It has four points on the back for lashing and eight gromets. You shouldn't pay more than $40 for one. I think OP Tactical has them for around $20. You could also just order a drop loop from CSM gear, used to be around $12.
I like the Brown kydex, but I got tired of it catching on my body armor and LBE. It does tuck the knife away out of sight well though.

Never played with kydex before so forgive the following question. I get heating it up and working the knife to expand the pocket. How do you make it tighter?
