Its not an Auto but I thought this may be of interest to you all.

No blade legnth gents sorry I asked twice. All I know is its $285.00( not even an auto!!! Nor stamped Microtech!!!Designed by a navy seal (again). Does anyone know of an advantage of this design???? I'd really like to know. Sorry for the sarcasim but I can't see the light. If you convince me of its superiority I may just get it.

These are the responses I got from emails:

Hi,
The Retail price for the PENDULUM is $285.00. If you want a link, then visit our website at www.gggaz.com. In as far as it being a fantasy edged weapon, it is far from that. This new concept edged weapon was designed by Chris Carraci former Navy SEAL and Tactical trainer. He has many years of experience in the tactical as well as the personal defense disciplines. Long before folding knives became in vogue for use as a defensive weapon, straight edge razors were used in a very effective manner. What Chris has done is taken an old proven idea and revolutionized it to modern defensive combat standards which can be used by professional and novices alike. In short, this will be a proven effective implement that has optimum concealability and maximum defensive utilization capabilities.

Thank,
Rafael

AND ANOTHER I asked for the size but no luck.He did correct my spelling of pedulum though

I neglected to correct his "THANK" from the first mail. The web site I asked for is at the top:

Hi,
The PENDULUM knife is on our website, if you click on catalog, it will be at the top of the page on the left side. Just click on the knife and the info will come up. If you cannot retreive the info, then e-mail me your complete address and I will send you our flyer info sheet.

Thanks,
Rafael

Please give me some insight. I will allways buy a piece of equipment that gives me an edge. No pun intended.

I suggest re-posting this on one of the tactical forums, preferrably Bram's. Somebody there should have a handle on this guy's actual credibility.

That said, I gotta say...this thing is a bad joke on first impressions.

See, on a DEEP cut it's going to "hang up" on the guy's clothing when it gets in "past the edge". Ditto stabs.

If you relegated it strictly to "arm slashes" using a "tear the tendons to heck" gameplan sorta like what Bram favors, I can sorta see it but again, what's the advantage here versus a good 4" or better conventional folder?

Moderators: I suggest moving this to Bram's territory.

Well..... uh.... Sh*t
I guess its a cross between a push dagger and an ulu right? Do I win anything for figuring it out ?

I can't see how its all that effective of a weapon. For one it would be clumsy as hell to carry. And just try and get a fast draw, or even a secure draw on something that big flat and round. How the hell do you get a secure grip on the handle. Theres no way to get your hand around it, and then I'm assuming your supposed to use that notch in the blade to open it with your thumb? How do you manage to hold that insanely wide handle with just your fingers, while you flick it open? With most flickable knives, you have room to get your fingers all the way around the handle and hook them on the bottom edge of the side opposite your thumb, not on that one.
And then to the blade shape. Your either going to slash or stab. It may slash ok, but you don't have a very secure grip in the knife when its getting stressed against your hand laterally. And that rounded edge would have to be awfully damn sharp to do as much damage as a pointed blade or serrated blade.
Or if you use it to stab, your going to make a very wide but not very deep hole. Which would be about like a short slashing cut.
I'm definitely not an expert on knife fighting, but I don't see how it would work at all.
Maybe they mean its a knife for skinning real seals. If you ever take up poaching this is the knife you want

It'll feel better when it stops hurting.

For what it's worth, Chris Caracci has been around for a few years in the "high speed" knife design business. He was involved with the Benchmade AFCK project. The martial artists around here can discuss his qualifications further, but he's not a "newbie."

And the Pendulum looks to my non-martial-artist eyes like what a modern Inuit housewife might carry, for whatever fish and game the hunter in the family brings her.
