I have a new knife, made by a new knife maker in Fayetteville, AR. The name of the maker is Darryl Parent. The knife is typical of other knives by the same maker. They are outdoor users, such as skinners and camp knives. I had an opportunity to talk to Darryl at length and I found that his knives are made from O-1@ 59-60Rc, feature full tang construction, and polished micarta handles. He is also open to interesting special projects.
My knife is a wide, hollow ground, dropped point with a deep choil an no guard. The handle is polished green micarta with a lanyard hole in the heel. The blade is 3 1/4" long and 1 1/8" wide and has a blunt nose like a Busse battle mistreee or Case sodbuster.
My knife was very sharp when I got it and held it well. I have now given it a touch-up with crock sticks. The edge came back easily and is quite sharp.
Darryl's prices are very good, being generally between $85-$150. I don't have the gene that lets me pay retail for stuff and they were still a good value to me.Darryl is a good guy to do business with and a knife enthusiast as well.
