New makers mark

I was thinking of useing a new makers mark. How does a glancing hammer blow right at the edge of the ricasso where the blade starts sound? If you can tell had a hell of a day in the shop fixing a slight screw up......Erik
 
Theres nothing worse that having a 1000+ grit hand rubbed ricasso take a hit once those handles are on. I once dripped a single drop of Ferric on a finished blade by mistake in that spot, and I was never able to repair the hand rubbed ricasso without a ton of fishhooks, and ended up etchind th whole shebang, haha!
