I pulled the trigger on a Manix II last Wed. at W&W. It arrived today via Express Post. This is the 154CM version with black g10 scales, not the recently available Blue version.

I have to say that this is a beautiful knife. Built like a tank and frighteningly sharp right out of the box. It has a heft and feel that are just right when held. The blade action is buttery smooth. The ball lock is tight and does require 2 fingers to release right now, though I suspect it will loosen over time as has been noted by others here in the forums.

This will be top of the list for EDC for sure as I suspect it will replace my E4 in the back pocket.

My only complaint is that the pivot could be just a little tighter as the blade will gravity close fully when releasing the lock. I will have to see about tightening it just a little.

This makes the third Spyderco knife in just 2 months. Its little brothers are a Native III and an Endura 4 along with a BM 555HG mini Grip (which looks like a Spydie - just with an axis lock)

The only knife I need is one more than I have right now.

I don't know what Freedoom means but....I just got the Manix II in blue and I like it a lot as well. After some searching it appears that everyone loves the Manix (original) better, however, the II is smaller for pocket carry and much more importantly it is lighter. I will not miss the 1/4 of length but I am glad to give up the weight. Good luck and use the crap out of it...if can take it!

You are posting on an internet forum and you don't know what "pics or it didn't happen" means?

From my understanding that is just how it is with this type of lock... let me know if it works though...

If I may - Freedom means in a joking manner to post pictures on the forum of said statement made by the original poster, if not then it "didn't happen". It's a long running joke on these forums and many others.

Similar to when someone tells you something comical and your retort would be "shut up!", meant in a joking manner.;)

Here is a pic from the cell phone .. kinda crappy .. will try for some better pic's later.

myowngod - will see how it goes with the lock .. will keep ya posted if it does indeed change. If not, no problem.

Being able to have gravity close the knife enables one-hand closing.

My lock has loosened up nicely over the week that I've had it. Still usually need thumb and finger, but it's much easier than originally. It flicks open very well!

Typically, "pics or it didn't happens" is written when said poster writes something odd, strange or rare. I do not understand what is odd, strange or rare about a Manix II?

Right, so it's funny when you say it over something mundane.
