Hello Gentlemen: I posted a reply to Tom Carey's question on the new Marble's folders in the Knife Review & Testing forum. Here is a summary:
Marble's teemed-up with Schatt & Morgan ( owned by Queen Cutlery )to produce their first folders in over 95 years. All 6 folders for the 2001 run will have small ( not full) convex ground edges of high carbon 1095 steel, mirror polished. The bolsters will be nickel silver...patterned in the old Marble Safety CO. style. All frames are high quality American brass. All blades are hand honed, one at a time, and they will be tang stamped M.S.A. Co and 01 for 2001 production. The escutcheon inlay plate bears the famous Marble's Banner.
2001 production is limited to only 400 of each knife pattern in each handle material. the 3 handle materials are: Marble's medium amber pick bone, Alante synthetic fire pearl and Asian buffalo horn scales. Schatt & Morgan has provided all the parts and sub assemblies and the skilled craftsmen at Marble's plant in Gladstone, Mich. will complete 100% of the hand assembled and tuned final production.
At the end of the year the blade mark dies will be destroyed. The patterns are:
Doctors 2-blade Jacknife
Straight Tapered 2-blade "English Jack"
Stockman 2-blade Pocketknife
Wharnecliff Whittler 3-blade Pen Knife
Congress 4-blade Jackknife (nice)
Tear Drop Easy Opener 2-blade Jackknife!!
These are high-end, very high ouality folders and prices will range from (retail) $125.00 TO 170.00. Additional info. is listed under Tom Carey's post.
God bless all our military personnel, pass present and future. God bless America.
