You may have noticed that up till now my Asian styled blades did not have a
mark. I was unhappy with the look of my normal "football" style mark so have
been searching for a new one.

Well I just got it in today. It took awhile to find a trusted source for the
translation (didn't want F@#KHEAD on my knives!). The mark is simply my last
name in Katakana. Katakana is the Japanese text for foreign words.

So what do you think?

I like it Ron. It covers a little more of the blade than I usually like, but it is subtle and does not look out of place.

Very elegant! What a good idea. It carry's the theme perfectly, and because it is your own name it's COOL!:p

Very nice Ron. Too bad none of the three knives I have are wearing it. I guess there is always room for #4 :D

Very cool! My japanese is rusty (well.. ok, it was never anything.. but.. it's even worse now).. but what's the 3rd character sounds like? I know it only as the symbol for the number 1. The others are Ke Ra (mumble) Ke. :)

This is Katakana not Kanji. There is a differance as I have been finding out the hard way. It is Ku La Ku, the closest we could get. The third symbol is a modifier changing the normal long A in La to a short A. So it is pronounced Kulaku, exactly as it is written with all short vowels. At least that is what I was told:). I speak none of it, so I have to go by what the translator told me.

I have it in three sizes so it will fit on even the smallest Mini MAU. They told me I could have had my own character created and officially added to thier language but that seemed a bit extreme. I could have also added R.W. in english and it still would have been proper, but I thought that might ruin the flow.

It was really funny, the translator sent me a bunch of differant font styles of the characters. One was what I guess to be a block print. It looked for all the world to be Klingon:D. I was tempted to use that one. At least I would have gotten the Trekky business:D.

Blademan, think of it this way. You now have one of the rare unmarked MAUs;).

Thanks for the comments.
