Hi all, I just picked up a Marttiini knife that I believe is a quite recent design. Instead of Marttiinis typical designs, this one comes in a very sturdy full tang construction. It looks at the same time modern, but still scandinavian, in my opinion.
I read on a few websites that the steel is 440C, but I do think that it's far more likely to have 420 steel, like most Marttiinis do.
What do yo think about it:

Would have been better without the finger notch IMHO. Makes it too limiting in the ways you can handle the knife.

That is nice. What is the black part of the handle, wood or Micarta maybe?

Well, the handle with notch would for me suffice 90% of the time. I'll cope with the finger notch for those few times I will cut upwards.

It's pakkawood, according to Martiini.

By the way, I accidently posted this here (it's obviously not a proper review), I had wanted to post the pics in the General forum.

Interesting. A scandi blade with an integral bolster and top half of the handle frame. Let us know how it works.

I like the looks of that. Believe I'll have to go to their site and read further. Thank you for bringing this blade to my attention.

*EDIT* I'll be damned! Couldn't find it. Mind if I ask where you picked it up?

I think it is EXCELLENT! Looks tough as hell!! :D

Looks like a nice blade shape for hunting and bushcraft, but that handle looks like it would make it unnecessarily heavy.

Thanks for finding and posting this. I don't know that I like it well enough to pay the price, but it sure is nice seeing something really new (at least the overall design in scandi is to me).

looks interesting

Please use it well
Then report back

I am interested how the edge holds
