He's been promoting this for a while: main street knives . com

Will be interesting to see where it goes. I can understand the thought behind it, but I dont know if those designs will take off. And the steel-of-the-week folks will not like the S45 and 1095 only choices.

Cool. I'm all for more knife choices. As for steel, ever since I went down into Dante's Inferno of auto-loader magazine spring metallurgy debate on Usenet back in 1986 I haven't been able to stomach steel talk.

Meh, I think the designs are quite ugly, the 2024 trench knife is kind of cool but the handle options are once again just ugly. Some sort of natural micarta, wood or even brass like the original trench knife IMO would look a lot nicer.

He said in most recent live on youtube that the website is not really ready quite yet. Although it does look like it's making progress.

I think as far as Medford pricing goes it's fairly reasonable. I like the Broadway and the Lombard looks interesting. I am curious to see if they have a glass breaker on the back or not. I have owned a few Medford knives and an American Service Knife, all have been excellent. Also Greg is a great guy and he probably has the best customer service in the game.

His heat treatment is solid, and in my experience his grinds have always been good. It will undoubtably be a solid blade, and a solid locking mechanism. I am not so sure that everyone will be happy with a backlock as the only choice of mechanism, I sort of wish they were liner locks. Backlocks are solid and have some of the strongest locks in the game however, so I don't see that as entirely a bad thing.

Medford hardly does sheepsfoot but it would've been cool to see one of these with a bladeshape like on his Nosferatu flipper.

All in all I'll probably buy one eventually. Haven't had a bad experience with Medford knives. My Praetorian Slim Flipper has been my favorite knife for awhile now. I am more attracted to the mainline Medford Knife and Tool line however. The cheaper options with the Main Street Knives seem like a good option, especially if they come with a warranty like Medford.

There is a lot of competition at this price point coming from all sides, TRM, Spyderco, Protech, etc. I am a bit worried that they may be passed up for other options because of the rougher looking finish.

With the lowest priced knife I saw coming in at 140 dollars, I guess I have to question the whole ( knives for the working man) advertising, but I have noticed that prices are generally out of wack lately across the board.

How much should they be to qualify for the title, in your opinion?

Most actual tradesman I know don't have a hundred dollars to spend on any pocket knife. They are almost certainly going to be spending 50 dollars or less on a knife. My guess would be that generally lower end offerings by Spyderco, SOG, CRKT, Gerber and Cold Steel would be much more likely to be used and carried by actual "working men."

Are these knives made in the U.S.A.? If so, how much do you think it takes to charge to have an actual decent profit to make it worth going to the trouble of producing high quality knives like this?

For just $245 the 2024 Trench Knife is worth consideration but there's nothing else of any interest there for me.

GKD. Family Friendly. Take the hint and follow the rules.

(Being cute doesn't change the rules, though a couple were funny.)
