Good afternoon everyone,

I've been lurking around here for the past six weeks or so, and figured it was an appropriate time to become a member. This seems to be a very nice community - thank you for having me.

I had been searching a couple of months back for a small fixed blade knife to carry on my person for working purposes. I work in a hardware store where I regularly need to cut plastic and nylon bands off of lumber or plastic wrap off of pallets, etc. I could use a box cutter for this (and I still do sometimes) but a small knife would work better and I can use it for when I go camping, hiking, strolling in the park, carving and I'm sure I'll find other uses for it too. I chose a Becker BK14 after researching other options and comparing them. People seem to like them, they're a great size, have a great belly and tip for being so little and in general it's been a great little companion every day.

In fact I liked it so much that I went ahead and bought the BK24 too. Then last week I bought another BK14 to keep as a spare. This BK14 is an older one with a flat paint finish and stamped marks rather than the textured powder coat type finish with laser etched marks. I was a little bit worried about it being bent, I read here that a small batch of the older ones came out slightly bent from the stamping. Mine seems to be just fine, though.

I've been recently looking at some of the other Becker knives that I'd like to have in the future, like the BK9, 11, 16...as well as some of those Condor knives like the Nessmuk.

I've taken some pictures of the knives and the first and third knife sheaths I've made, the second didn't turn out very well so I scrapped it. I also would like to try my hand at making some leather sheaths and some wood scales sometime in the near future. I have some hickory and birch that would be nice, and I live a few blocks from a Woodcraft so some of their exotic hardwood blocks might be cool too.

About me, I'm 24, I'm a full time student (last semester :D ), I'm in the planning stage of asking a very special lady a very important question (it's been four years!), and I enjoy the things most of you seem to enjoy- cooking, knives, good beer, dogs, hiking, camping, archery and firearms.

Here are my Beckers.

Welcome to the forum. Make sure to allocate some space for future Beckers. They seem to proliferate for some reason.:D

Welcome to the forum, I've only been here for a short time but I am enjoying my stay so far:) Great pics of the Beckers, nice dog and nice outdoor pics, what a beautiful location.

Step in here and have a blast. Nice knives, great pics.

Montana is awesome isn't it? Great pics of Glacier.

Welcome to the addiction. Now you need a BK9. You can't not have a BK9. You're never lost if you have a BK9 because you can easily construct a log cabin in a few minuets. Voila! Home, sweet home.

Thanks everyone.

It is indeed. I really enjoyed your post about kayaking. Was incredibly beautiful. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll be able to do something similar someday.

Welcome Chalet!
This was a world class first post.
A good introduction and great pics! We like pics.
Pull up a chair and stay awhile!

Now that is a proper intro thread! Hello, welcome, I hope you're hooking up this special lady with some steel now too eh?

Hey, Chalet. Beautiful pictures of the wonderful scenery, and the nature pics looks good as well.

This forum is full of becker-enablers, so when you tell us about every knife wanting that your heart might desire, these peeps are just going to validate your feelings, and document the necessity for an other blade. Talking of which, the BK9 is one heck of a blade, you chooses it, as much as it chooses you.

Welcome brother man! Nice pics and nice blades! I still need to get a 14 :D.

Welcome to the forum! You have a nice collection. Your sheaths look very nice, I like the style of them. The 14 is a great knife. Next you will start to modify them :) and you can't not have a bk9 it is awesome. Then you have to get a 16. Or an ESEE 4 (I know I should not say that in these parts lol :D
Good luck with your new addiction and special lady.
