Hello all,

I am new to the forum and would like to say hi. I am more a firearm/military enthusiast and one of the admins over at canadiangunnutz.com. As for blades, my knowledge is minimum so I am here to learn. Especially looking for more information regarding taking care (read: sharpening) of my current "tiny" collection. I currently own a MOD trident utility folder, a benchmade No.5 rescue hook and a cold steel recon tanto (The MOD and benchmade along with a surefire E2D are my daily carry). Thinking about the new Randall RAT-5 as my next purchase.

Anyways, thanks for reading!

Nice to have you, this place is alot of fun and you learn alot, just make sure you type everything clearly and explain your comments you should be fine. I have a Rat-3 and I like it, Rat-5 as in the folder correct? I have held them and they seem ok Aus-8 not my fav steel but the overall design and feel is nice to me.

The RAT-5 is a bigger brother of your RAT-3. I have never handled the RAT-5, but I have used the RTAK and RAT-7 and they are both good knives.

Welcome sparhawk!

You'll find this place to be an incredible resource and a great community.

You've got a nice collection beginning there. Might want to call to have the credit limit increased on your cards... something about hanging around here seems to result in wanting just one more blade :D (You'll notice I didn't say needing one more blade... we don't let a silly thing like need get in the way of purchasing the next perfect knife ;)

Im really looking forward to the RAT-5. It looks a just like the RAT-7 other than than pommel design. I likes the RAT-7 pommel better but it won't be hard to modify the RAT-5.
