I'm new to the knife scene, less than a year and have been hanging around the Forums for a few months and I have learned a lot. I think I'm really hooked on knives now, but that's a good thing. After a few days of handling my newest knife I just had to post something about it. The STARMATE has to be the best production folder out there right now. I will hold all knives to this high standard of pure quality. I must say I'm really impressed with Mr. Glesser and his team at SPYDERCO. So thank you SPYDERCO and Mr.Terzuola for the STARMATE! I'm already planning for my Etz'Nab tatoo! So what do I get next if I already have the best? I already have a NATIVE!

if you like your native, you would probably love the BF native. they still have part serr models in the store.

I've never gotten a Spyderco that I didn't like.
Just to pique your interest, I've just added a G-10 Police model to the fold and this knife made the move from all-steel to G-10 very well. IMHO, the G-10 model is even better than the all-steel Police model. It has a full height flat ground ATS55 blade that ROCKS! The added thickness of the G-10 handle gives you more to grip and has great traction. The knife is a lock back, but it's a very strong lock back. It is definately worthy of all duty use.
Just a thought...

Another nice flat ground knife would be the Centofante, either the large or small, it is more dressy than the Militarty or Police but it stll a sturdy knife.

Yep! The Military is an absolute must have item for any person desiring high performance without a sky high price.
I can't say enough good things about the Military, it is really a superb knife.
Oops, sounding like a commercial again.
Great knife though, give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

I'll second the vote for the Military.

I have a StarMate, a Military, a Terzuola Clipit, a Terzuola Jr. Clipit, an Endura98, a Delica98, a stainless Police, a black TiN Police, a SpydeCard, a Q, and a Pro Venator. The only ones that I regret are the Q and the Pro Venator, the Pro Venator only because of the kraton in the clip. It is my opinion, often stated, that the StarMate comes as close to perfection in a production folder as I have seen, and Sal says that they are always trying to improve them!
