So I've been into knives for as long as I can remember. I know a bit about some of the more common steels out there, I know the brands, I know what blade types I prefer, etc. No expert, though, by any means. The thing that's been really bugging me lately, though, is that I can't find any knives that I don't absolutely destroy the pocket clip on within 2-3 weeks. And I mean this very literally. Bought a Spyderco Native, clip came loose within a few days. Lock Tited it, still came loose within another few days. Switched to a Delica 4 FFG in Brown handle, the FRN got stripped somehow so the clip can't even stay in the holes I want it to anymore. It lasted about 2 weeks. Bought a SOG Pentagon Elite I, it lasted a few days and had a similar issue to the Delica. The only knife I can think of that I've owned fairly recently that didn't get destroyed was a Mini Griptilian, and if I can't find something else I won't absolutely destroy the chances are that I'll be going online and customizing one to order with OD grips, Black Oxide clip and an S30V blade. But I would like to see if there's anything out there that you'd all recommend with a nice, sturdy pocket clip. Good blade steels are also a plus on any knife mentioned.

Eh, if you like plastic handles then go for it. There's many choices from companies like Kershaw and Spyderco that I feel would be a better value (and just plain better knife) overall.

EDIT: Forgot, welcome to the forums! You will like it here, your wallet on the other hand.... :D

Such as? I'm looking for suggestions anyway. I love Spyderco, by the way, I just don't want one with a clip that's going to bust off.

Well, let's get a price range, blade steel choice, handle choice, blade style, coated/uncoated, and we can go from there. :)

grab a stainless steel handle delica, if your clip wiggles out of that, the knife is not the problem

Price Range: Anywhere from $50-$150
Blade Steel: VG-10, S30V, 154CM
Handle: Something textured, G10 is preferred.
Blade Style: Drop Point or Tanto (Different, I know, but I like both)
Coating: No Coating

Kershaw Junkyard Dog II CPM D-2 Composite blade

Kershaw G-10/S30V leek

Kerershaw S30V Blur or CPM 154 Blur or ZDP-189 Composite Blur

Zero Tolerance 0200KW, 0350 Composite

There's some Kershaws / ZTs for you to consider, the spydey people will respond with theirs.

Hogue EX01, 3.5 inch blade, 154cm, G-mascus handle, button lock.....looks pretty sweet to me.

And welcome to the forum!

Forgot to mention my preference for tip up carry. I like the Leek, but I don't like the tip down type. Is it reversible?

Welcome to BFC!! Try the Spyderco Sage 1 or Benchmade 14205...I really like the clips bc they are flexible yet strong.

You can also try getting a custom clip from STR (do a search for STR or click one of the ads). THough I do not have one, I am planning to get one and many members have commented very positively.

Good luck!!

I have not had any issues with my Benchmade 950, Spyderco Manix 2 or Paramilitary 2, and I am beating the crap out of all 3...lol

Welcome to the forums, you will find more things here that you need to spend money on than you ever dreamed possible...

WEEEELLLLLLLL I'm also a flashaholic, WIS, and gun guy... So we'll see!

4" hogue ex-1 in either tanto and drop point... and i'm AMAZED that STR clips haven't been suggested from what i read...

he's got his own sub-forum. drop him a line and see if you can't get something worked out.

Yes it is.

Then you can exempt the JYD from my post.

I had this earlier (here's some photos):

You should take a look at Kershaw's composite blades and speciality (sprint run) Blurs. CPM 154, ZDP-189 composite and S30V blurs are a few of them, and CPM D-2 and S30V leeks would be right up there as well.

Also take a look at the composite bladed JYD II.

I also wouldn't rule out the Zero Tolerance series:

+1 those are all excelent coices, but i think i would go with the blur. Leek would also be good. Thr junkyard dog's clip is very good, if not unobtrusive, but unless you are going to get it redrilled for a new clip, then it can be a downside.
Yoi could always go wiht a good benchmade for the higher end, look and see what you like.
