Hi to all! I've been lurking for about a week now looking for info on knives as I find myself once again in the market.

A little about my self, I am an Eagle Scout, College Grad, Catholic, all round nice guy firmly ensconced in last place. I like to set self improvement goals for myself, usually to do with things that I don't know about but would like to. My most recent project was guns, I didn't grow up in a gun equipped household and my only experiences with them was shooting 22s at scout camp. That endeavor culminated in my acquiring my CHL, several pistols, and me building part by part my first AR15. While doing this it came to my attention that I have been disappointed as of late with my folders. I have used lots of different multi-tools and folders over the years and for a long time I was dragging around a standard Buck Knife, then switched to a Cold Steel Recon 1, and now I'm thinking I'd rather have a fixed blade for EDC. I ran into a smith at our local fair recently and his craftsmanship really opened my eyes to what I've been missing.

So here I am, to learn all about the different styles, steels, and smiths, with the goal of picking a satisfying EDC blade to complete my kit. I'm currently using the Recon 1 and a Leatherman Super tool 300. Thoughts, tips, and suggestions are appreciated. Also, it seems that I am at the moment unable to set an avatar pic, sorry about that!
