Hey everybody.

I was referred here by some other guys on a gun forum.

Im looking to get a good knife for around $200-250 if thats doable. I was wanting a fixed blade with either a stag or deer handle. Just something custom and not mass produced. Im not too picky about the blade choice, just want it to last.

Any help getting me on my way would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! :)

Welcome to Bladeforums! Given your parameters, there are literally hundreds of knives that could fit the bill. It might help if you could tell us what you plan to use it for, how long of a blade you'd like, are you more concerned about blade toughness (i.e., bend not break) or edge holding, etc. There are many custom fixed blades that come up for sale in the makers forum that are within that price range. You might take a look there and see if anything strikes your fancy.

Sorry Mark...

Used for hunting and general outdoors use. Skinning deer and hogs, cutting rope and other everyday things. Looking for a blade between 4" And 7". I would like it to hold an edge because I do a lot of skinning.

You can start here - you'll probably be able to find more than you expected for the money from some amazing makers right here on the BladeForums Maker's exchange. Awesome maker's, awesome knives and great service and support! This is the link for fixed blades:

Just be ready to act when one comes up that you like because they can be gone in the blink of an eye. Some prices may surprise you ;)

Welcome ! The guys on the gun forum sent you to the right place. A lot of knowledgeable people here. You ought to be able to find just what your looking for. Good luck.

Possibly a Bark River Bravo 1 or Fox River. Bark River has many different handle options such as stag horn, ram horn, etc. Maybe closer to $300, but worth checking out. DLT trading, The Knife Connection, or Knives Ship Free all have good selections.

IDK, how handy you are, but you may try to put the handle of your choice on a bare blade.
I've done a couple with hand tools and a drill.

Good place for handle material is Alpha knife supply.
Blades Ragweed Forge
Both Jantz supply

Again, this isn't all that hard. Keep poking around bf and you'll find tutorials like the one on the Brisa site.
There is a lot said for the satisfaction in doing it (well some of it :) ) your self.

Good luck on your search, the hunt is half the fun :)
