I’ve been looking for a knife with a few specific features. My last purchase and currently in my pocket is a Kancept Prickle tanto. It’s close but just not quite scratching a certain itch. Hoping for some interesting suggestions.
Over 3”
Compound grind. Really like the look of hollow grind with a flat grind at the tip.
Quality blade steel (I have plenty of D2)
Milled pocket clip
Not picky about lock mechanism, however I’m just not into the frame lock design with different material on the opposite side.
Also not picky about opening
Should be easy right?

Welcome to Bladeforums.

1. What is your price range?
2. How far over a 3" blade length? I have a big hand, so I like a big handle, which usually translates to a longer blade. I tend to stick 3.44" (Spyderco PM2) to 4" myself.

The compound grind might be a problem. There are plenty of folks around here that do regrinds tho too. Liong Mah might do a grind similar to that.

All great cold steel suggestions. I have a voyager xl tanto and it actually gets a little pocket time. I could’ve been more specific. Close to 3.5” and under $200. Have never looked at Liong Mah. Beautiful knives but I haven’t reached the point of spending that much on one yet. Kinda leaning towards the kizer begleiter if that helps. Is it normal to buy knife after knife and still always be in search of that perfect one? Haha

Take a look at the Cold Steel AD-10. It is a production copy of Demko's custom $1200 knife which retains almost all of its features, while costing closer to $100 than 200 today. It has a great grip for medium and large hands, G10 over heat-treated aluminum liners. 3.6" blade in S35VN steel. It has the reputation for the smoothest Tri Ad lock of any Cold Steel. Lots of You Tube videos on it, including a couple that show how to avoid the counterfeits.

Ok, that helps a lot.

Yes. And you will find many folks who have been buying knives for decades and have a crap ton of knives and they are still looking for the perfect knife.

The compound grind that you will want will be the biggest obstacle.

The Kizer B is a great knife. I have this one in 20CV.

People should note, though, that the PM2 has only 3" of cutting area. Nothing wrong with that, I have three PM2s.

Seconded Cold Steel Voyager tanto. I have the XL, but they make smaller versions.
