Thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself before jumping in. Name's Bob. I've been interested in knifemaking since I was about sixteen. I'm forty-seven now and I've never made a knife. I've decided that it's time to give it a shot and see what comes of it. I've got a decently equipped shop where I build pretty much anything but I specifically build custom motorcycles and components. I don't do bolt-ons. To me custom is synonymous with handmade. I've always strived to be a craftsman and I'm hoping that will show through in any knives I make as well.

To get started, I have ordered the grinder in a box kit from Polar Bear Forge and will be putting it together over the next couple weeks. I intend to fab/machine most additional components myself where possible. I think the rubber coated contact wheels are beyond my capacity. There are a lot of GIB builds on this forum already so, I don't know if I need to share mine. You guys tell me.

Anyway, I've lurked here quite a bit as a guest so now I'm looking forward to joining the conversation.

Welcome Bob. Sounds like a lot of fun, I enjoy hobbyist fixed blade making and I think you will too. Just have fun and be creative and remember you can only get better. Welcome to the forums and enjoy.
