Hey,
I finally decided to officially join in on all the fun with axes on this here forum.
Work in these pandamonius days since April has been scarce so since April I've now got a new hobby!
Helping a friend on his farm I got tired of swinging a 10# ax maul(I'm not young) and decided to get an ax to swing. Though i was unaware of the ax craze and quite the late-comer, I'm into it now.
I got a double bit off eBay and a Baker Pro handle locally, watched many YouTube videos and most helpful...info from this forum and i haven't stopped hanging axes since!
I've scored more heads than I have time for. EBay, local farm auctions, friend's barns and a couple even gifted to me.
I've got 19 hangs according to my list as of today. I test all if of them and most passed muster with only 3 handles ruined and rework on 2 axes needed.
Info from this forum has been invaluable in my hafting and I wanted to say thank you very much for the help.
I've much more to talk about and many other questions but I'll need to go slow as to hold to forum rules and etiquette.
Thanks again,
Joe

I split wood and if the placement isn't critical I have felled 3 trees. The trees were 20", 16" & 10" . Nothing spectacular, 2 were dead and all were no taller than 25 'or so.
I have a few friends with lands that burn wood so splitting is easier with two people of our age and is the perfect proving grounds for new hangs.
I'm preparing to begin to sell my axes maybe on etsy and word of mouth. I've performed sharpening, re-handling for a few folks.
Having worked only a total of 90 days this year I need to keep active. Hanging axes, splitting wood and farm chores with my best friend and others have kept me healthy and sane.

There is just something about getting an old hatchet/axe and bringing it back to life. Cleaning it, re hanging it and sharpening it is my zen time in the garage. It is just relaxing and rewarding. The next step for you is to now make your own handle. That I believe is the most rewarding activity. Glad you have taken a liking to the forum, many experienced people on here who are always willing to help. Make sure you post some pictures, everybody loves pictures. :)

JLR, yes there is.

I'd like to post some pictures but it appears my pics would need a URL address. How do I go about that?

You have to put your pics on an image hosting site and copy them from the site. Once copied you can paste them to your posts here. POSTIMAGE is what I use, there are others also.
