Hello.
My name is Byrd and I live in Bedford County, Virginia with my wife and three young children. We live on 36 acres and try to provide as much for ourselves from our land as possible. That said, a knife is something of a necessity for me and my wife. I have a very small and humble collection of knives...only a few would even be considered "nice". I carry a Leatherman Wave as my primary tool but supplement that with a fixed blade knife (usually a Jim Watson drop point) and a gerber para "something or other". Also, I am in the process of making my first knife out of an old file and boy is it ugly but I am learning.
I find myself carrying cheaper and cheaper knives as I get older because my kids give me a knife for every occasion that comes up (i.e. birthday, Christmas, Fathers Day, etc.) and these "China Made knives" mean more to me than just about anything else I own and they pay for it with their own money. 15 dollars is alot of money for a 6 year old boy...and alot of money for many grown ups who are not as fortunate as we are.
With this being said, I hope to start a small collection of yellow handle Case pocket knives. It will likely take me years to grow any sort of respectable collection but I have time...knock on wood. I am by no means any sort of expert in knives but I do know how to sharpen a blade. Ultimately, I hope to learn from you guys and, over time, become a productive contributor to this forum. I will most likely post rarely but I am an experienced lurker so if I can be of service to anyone, feel free to reach out.
Thank you for allowing me to join your community and if this is posted in the wrong section, I apologize in advance.
Sincerely,
Byrd
