New member...is this knife collecting a prelude to a 12 step process?

I am a new member and have a serious question. Is this knife collecting a sickness? I have a friend (and I use that term loosely) that turned me on to Dozier knives while deer hunting in Texas over thanksgiving. Since then I have bought 17....what did he do to me? I find myself checking multiple sites constantly, I scour every place I can think of to find them, I'm a stalker all over the place - is this normal? I look for nuances between folders and the aspects of stag material vs. Cocobola.....what has happened to me? When I see I have been outbid or missed a knife I find myself saying " dang that's a great looking knife" ....I love the balance, feel, blade design, sharpening techniques etc...am I in trouble? lol

Fortunately I have a great wife who just ignores my recent passion, er I mean sickness....is this how it's going to be going forward? A life of joy looking for that next Dozier, looking for models I don't have? Does it stop? Most importantly, does anyone have any Doziers for sale!!

Yup...

Elkhunter you need to Put the crack pipe down! Especially when a master hunter arrives on the scene.

Your wife is loving and appreciative now ... seize the moment! You have a small window of opportunity, use this time wisely to establish a separate untraceable bank account and a credit card under an alias.

It gets worse. Eventually you'll break away from your gateway brand and discover others that enticingly beckon to you from the rocky shores of your addiction.

Oh, excuse me... Chris Reeves and William Henry are calling me. I'll be in the corner drooling and babbling to myself.

Who is this Dozier guy? 12-step process?

I see only about four steps total:
Buy 'em
Sell 'em at a loss
Get broker and broker
Enjoy the first three steps.

This is the only twelve step process I know of...

1. Ooooooh what's that?

2. Look it up, read every review, watch every video

2.5. I don't really have the money...eh, I'll eat ramen for a week

3. Find the best price

4. Buy

5. impatiently await email with tracking information

6. Track the package every hour for two days

7. WTF UPS, why is my beloved knife not here???

9. "Out of delivery" position yourself so your mail box is with in view and wait

10. What? There he is, you run to your mail box and scare your mailman when you whip out your knife to open the package...before he's even handed you the package

11. Open box and marvel at your new sharp, titanium, possibly black, new sharp thing

12. Post on forums, youtube, everywhere there's a knife community, text your friend too!

:D

BTW, your confession of starting with Bob Dozier knives indicates the actual depth of your problem. I'm afraid it's terminal.

Most people start with Bucks or Gerbers and work their way up (or is it down?). You started in the deep end.

12.5 Repeat.
:D
So very true but you missed the last step. Fixed it for you. ;)

The mailman came today with the last two I ordered. I find myself with nothing in the pipeline, although I do have my eye on a couple and anxiously await the next availability....Coco1975, I've been warned about the master hunter and promised my friend I won't poach him on it....if he knows its me! Seriously, I find this process fascinating and have a new appreciation for a knife and the craftsmanship that goes into producing them. I'm fortunate my buddy wasn't a loveless collector .....hmmmm

Wellcome to the strange world of the knife nut you should of taken the green pill . But its to late now your HERE . Lol

It will take you by storm (or already has it sounds like)...I find myself constantly checking my favourite dealers (and I mean hourly...dang smart phones) for any new products or deals. I never would have pictured myself being a knife guy, always more of a gun guy. But now...I've got it bad. Welcome to our world.
